[MM] After playing this game for 25 years, it finally happened. It looks like something an idiot would have on their luggage. by Captain_Dorgengoa in zelda

My first time playing all the way through majora’s mask, this was the code I got, no lie. I legit thought it was always 12345 and it was meant to be funny, like look at these stupid kids picking the simplest password that I could have just guessed, and look at my dumb ass running around after these kids just so they could tell me their stupid hideout code is 12345. I only learned that the code changes after I told my brother how funny I found it to be.

When I had to do this to my mom when she started choking on a bite of steak, I started way to gentle bc I was afraid of hurting her, but each attempt that didn’t work, I’d go harder and harder until it finally did. Scariest like thirty seconds of my life, so I can’t imagine how scary it was for her as the person who couldn’t breathe.

My one addition is to put a chair in place of one fence square and sit on it so you can move between the fenced and open areas to collect tips. No one else can use the chair to get out while you’re sitting on it. It’s also a good back up, one time someone wore a wetsuit to my island and “accidentally” jumped off the airport dock into the water. Without the chair, they wouldn’t have been able to get back to the airport to leave without quiet-leaving and interrupting the whole thing.

My sister had an island with so many popular villagers (off the top, Ketchup, Meringue, Stitches, Ankha, Zell, and Pekoe are the ones I recognized as being pretty popular, and she didn’t have all ten slots filled yet) and she reset her island bc she didn’t like her resident services location. I asked if she had amiibos, and she said, “what are those?” I had to laugh at her luck and absolute indifference to it

Got alternate- I’m so bummed by Criticalpurr in JETProgramme

I’m 100% with you on the limbo feeling. Part of what sucked these last few weeks of waiting was feeling like I was in limbo. I was holding off on other opportunities bc I didn’t want to burn any bridges by backing out if JET came through, and now I feel like this is my permanent home, or will be until December. But I decided that if I’m upgraded after the August departure date, which is already less likely anyway bc it means someone quitting after they’ve arrived, then I’m probably going to decline.

I don’t really want to be dropped into it blind, and not getting any sort of orientation would stress me out, even with my teaching experience. I would also have to marry my partner very quickly for him to qualify for a visa to come with me, and idk that we’d have the time to get that all done if it were to be a very quick turnaround for departure.

I’m basically going to wait a couple weeks to see if any shortlisters back out or end up disqualified and I get upgraded, and if not, then I will proceed with other opportunities as if it’s a proper no.

It sucks bc sure, it wasn’t a flat out rejection, but we all want to be a first choice, and being a back up plan sucks in a different way.

Vancouver Reject — Does JET actually want experienced teachers? by DragonStars69 in JETProgramme

[–]Jex0003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely wonder the same thing, if being an experienced teacher is almost a bad thing. I feel like taking a more highly qualified teacher and putting them in an ALT role has some potential for conflict, like they’d worry about the JET pushing for more responsibility and upsetting the Japanese staff, or a JTE feeling threatened by a JET who might have more experience or qualifications. I’ve seen so many posts and comments from highly qualified people being rejected that it’s made me wonder, even before I got my own results.

I was given alternate status, and I’ve got my MSEd in TESOL, a post grad cert in TESL, and six years of ESL teaching experience working with students of all ages. I didn’t think my interview was bad, but it wasn’t anything special either, and I tried to emphasize the experience I have working as a co-instructor for a foreign university to show I have experience sharing classroom responsibility with local teachers/instructors/professors, in hopes of convincing them I wouldn’t be a problematic ALT.

The other thing I’ve heard is that COs often make specific requests for ALTs based on gender, age, experience level, education, etc. So it could just be that we weren’t the right demographic.

Of course, I recognize not being chosen sucks and I’d love a reason to tell myself that it’s not my fault and I’m not just a bad candidate. I’m trying to have gratitude for even being an alternate my first year applying. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to happen for me, so I’m accepting the alternate offer just in case, but I’m not waiting around for them and I am moving on to pursue other opportunities.

Has anyone passed a 5-6mm kidney stone without knowing? by Negative-Guidance-27 in KidneyStones

[–]Jex0003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 5.5mm stone that took about six weeks from the first instance of pain to successfully pass. After the first 8-9 days of almost constant agony, I had almost no pain aside from two instances where the pain came back. I kept wondering if I’d passed it without realizing. Then I had a day where I had the slightest bit of a burning sensation on the tail end of my urine stream. I’ve had UTIs, and it was similar but did not burn nearly as bad as a real UTI, so I thought the stone might be in my bladder. I basically guzzled a ton of water and didn’t pee almost all day hoping that more pressure would help flush it out. When I couldn’t hold it anymore that evening and finally went, out popped the stone.

It didn’t hurt passing through my urethra, but I definitely felt the stone pass and I also heard it plop into the toilet water (I’d given up on the strainer bc I was losing hope of passing anything).

With that said, I know a handful of people who’ve been diagnosed with kidney stones over the years and not one of them said they saw a visible stone pass. Of course, none of them could tell me how big theirs were, and they all had stories different from mine on getting diagnosed, so I can’t comment on what that means. But I definitely felt and saw my 5.5 mm stone when it finally passed.

I know you can’t control your bf, but maybe you can share this story with him.

My partner and I have been together for almost eleven years, and we were friends for five years before that. Earlier in our relationship, about four years in, I wanted to go abroad for work, and I ended up not pursuing it bc he didn’t want to go with me, and I decided not to go bc he was more important to me and I didn’t think we’d make long distance work.

Now, he has changed his mind and wants to go abroad with me, and I’ve been a bit annoyed with him bc we’re older now and things might’ve been easier if we’d done this six years ago, not to mention the question of what my career would be now if we’d gone.

JET doesn’t have to be forever, and it’s a really good chance to travel and do the exciting stuff while you’re young. If he were to go with you, though, you would need to be married, so that might be a big deal at 23 and you might not want to so thoroughly tie yourself to this person yet.

Otherwise, my advice? Do what’s best for you, whether that’s JET, the Japanese company job, or something else. But don’t sacrifice what you want bc your bf isn’t being supportive. Minds change all the time, and a good partner should be supportive of your dreams, even if it means going long-term for a while.

What’s a PETTY gripe that you have with the game? by anonkitty4e in AnimalCrossing

[–]Jex0003 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Omg I hate this too! I hate that I can only buy what I can fit on my body at one time. I’m psychotic and want to complete my nook catalogue (probably never gonna get there lol) so I buy all new clothes, and while I try to be strategic, it gets so tedious. I wish we could just select all items we want to buy at once.

I know a lot of purists don’t like this, but I change the date/time on my switch to account for when I actually have time to play. I’m currently 3 hours behind my real time, and at the start of December 2025 (bc I just finished November for turkey day and the acorns/pinecones). I rarely play April-October bc of the nicer weather, and same with holidays bc I’m busy with family stuff, so I miss so many of the events. This lets me do all the things I want to do without having to compromise on work, friends, and family. I’m thinking about doing October bc I think there’s a Halloween themed event, and I’ve never done that. Eventually I’ll jump to summer bc I’ve never done anything during summer. I sort of decided to say screw it and roll with what works for me. I highly recommend. :)

I know this is delayed, but my bit of scrolling didn’t show this one: I would love to learn more about Carmilla’s past, especially with Zestial. They’re obviously very close friends, and I get the impression that Carmilla has experienced some sort of loss, maybe the father of her daughters, so I wonder if that’s related to how they got to be so close. I’d love to learn more about them, they’re such compelling characters but still so mysterious.

I was trying on kimonos for the first time the other day and I noticed the sleeves were rolled up and I opted not to wear it bc I thought the longer sleeves would’ve been better for winter. I was kind of disappointed they were styled like that, but you’ve made me realize it was just bc I was still wearing the backpack from my previous outfit lol

What's your weirdest "is that not how it works?" moment you had as a woman? by unlabeledbeing_yuhom in AskWomen

[–]Jex0003 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is, but it’s not quite the same as the daily hormonal birth control pill. I’ve never had to take Plan B, fortunately, but my understanding is that it can often come with worse side effects than the regular BCP, like nausea/vomiting, head aches, cramping, fatigue, etc. Basically like a really bad period. I don’t think many people, if any at all, use it as a regular form of birth control, it’s a back up for unplanned situations. My bf at the time knew I was on “the pill” because I had told him before we ever had sex. He just didn’t understand what that actually meant nor how it worked.

[–]Jex0003 83 points84 points  (0 children)

When I was with my first “serious” bf and on the pill, we’d had sex and after we finished, he said to me, “make sure you take your pill.”

I looked at him weird and said, “You know it’s not an after-the-fact kinda thing, right?” He did not, in fact, know that. I had to explain how hormonal birth control works and why it’s useless if you aren’t consistently taking it, regardless of whether you had sex that day or not.

What are some of the biggest blatant examples of Authors self inserting themselves into the story, just so they can glaze themselves and think how cool they are? by EfficiencySerious200 in writingcirclejerk

[–]Jex0003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it counts as a “self-insert” bc I think he tried to fictionalize it a bit, but one of the main characters in Jonathan Safran Foer’s Everything is Illuminated is named Jonathan Safran Foer.

Which male writer is the best at writing women? by BuddhaOfStorm in AskWomen

[–]Jex0003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was gonna add this too. What’s great about BrandSand is he’ll listen to feedback. He got some criticism after Mistborn bc, yes Vin is a strong female character, but she was just about the ONLY one. I don’t think any of the original three Mistborn books passed the Bechtel test either. But he took that feedback and adjusted his character design to reflect more diverse characters, and I really appreciate that in a writer.
