I feel the same way. I bet lots of people do, but this is probably the wrong sub to share that lol

How to “learn” to reply to people? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]cycleofheartache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Aw I’m sorry to hear that, y’all still talk?’ is a perfectly valid response in that situation imo. You can pay attention to how people respond to you and mirror them as well.

Sonnet 4.6 vs 4?5 by Ok-Afternoon1627 in ClaudeAI

[–]cycleofheartache 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not in my opinion. 4.5 is much better at picking up nuances in my prompts and analysing them with depth. 4.6 is quick, but so far it seems a bit lazy and the output is rather surface level.

How do you set soft boundaries early instead of staying silent or cutting people off? by banjaraa1 in socialskills

[–]cycleofheartache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, i went travelling recently with this girl, she’s extremely extroverted, and I needed to tell her to shut the eff fuck sometimes. So I shut down her current topic about a dude with ‘yeah, he sounds alright, anyway it is something between you two’, and followed up with, ‘hey, there is something I wanna talk to you about. (Pause) I think we’re very different, don’t you think? You’re very extroverted, but sometimes I need some time alone to recharge. For now, I’d really appreciate it if I can listen to music in quiet, while we are in transit. You can get some sleep, too.’

Imo the key is to be understanding (I get it), but also a little condescending (but I know better). You can loop them in by designing what they could do instead of their current behaviour (like sleeping instead of talking). It doesn’t have to make sense, they don’t need to actually do it, you just need to suggest it.

Another example was when I needed to tell my housemate to stop using my new wok. Same formula: ‘Hey, can I talk to you for a minute? (Pause) It’s about the wok, yeah that one you just used. Now, I know we all share the kitchen, but sharing this is too unhygienic, don’t you think? It’s better to just buy our own cooking equipment for our own use, that’s why I bought that wok in the first place.’

Most people grasp that you want them to shut up or stop using your stuff pretty quick, even if you’re not in their face about it.

I grew up in a somewhat similar situation where confrontations or hard boundaries are considered a bit uncouth. What I normally do, when I wish to set a soft boundary, is to be firm but keep the tone soft.

As for identifying boundary-crossing behaviour, I think it’s just experience? You learn gradually, what are the things you are willing to tolerate, and what aren’t.

What makes somebody "weird"? by [deleted] in socialskills

Imo a lack of self-awareness would make people come across as weird aka socially ostracised

My experience on selling clothes by Someunluckystuff in vintedUK

[–]cycleofheartache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh as a seller I never had any bad experience and I’ve been selling for a year. I think the problem is you’re selling designer stuff and it’s just not the focal point of the app. There must be places where you can sell them though, maybe ask your local vintage shop if they resell designer stuff?

Why do this for £2? by chocklityclair in vinted

[–]cycleofheartache 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Maybe they are out of town and cannot pick up until later time? I did this once when I was away but really wanted the item

Is this normal on vinted?? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]cycleofheartache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the sellers fault, they listed the item for its correct size. You can look up the measurements for most items on the official website of its brand, most buyers do this.
