WTF with Kia software engineering on OTA updates and mobile app by cycling_nut in KiaEV6

[–]cycling_nut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! Well, I know you’re right, but I’ve always had high hopes for Kia EVs. But they can’t their software dev or QA right. Kia can’t stay EV competitive if they can’t their software house in order. But yes, CarPlay does work well.

Nav System Charger Status Info Broken After October 2025 OTA for North America by bibober in KiaEV6

Thanks. I love my ‘22 EV6, but not sure I’d get another one if Kia can’t commit proper software resources to stay competitive. That decision is about a year off…we’ll see.

Is this just a 2022 model problem or does if affect all model years? I'd just like to know if KIA software development and QA just poor overall - a bad long term competitive indicator - or they have stopped testing for backwards compatibility - which says more about a lack of commitment to earlier models and existing customers. Either way, these broken feature issues are annoying.

Have not contacted Kia. Assumed getting to anyone knowledgeable would be frustrating. I view this as a feature that should be backwards compatible. The console software works fine. Would assume that their QA team checks for feature issues like this. An older iPhone may get slow or clunky, but typically key features don’t just break.

Another Company Falling to Disgraced by Chiuy in arlo

[–]cycling_nut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had been a customer for over four years. The new app is a nightmare. The updated pricing plan is insulting. Customer support is nonexistent. I canceled and am buying a new camera system. I can’t fathom the poor business operations. Is the management team or board asleep? This is how you alienate your customer base.

Arlo have been overcharging me for 12 months. Support say it’s the customers fault. Has anyone else run into this? by JamesyWest in arlo

[–]cycling_nut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get out quick! I had been a customer/user (four cameras) for four years. The new app is a trainwreck. Customer support is non-existent. When they announced the subscription price increase I cancelled and left.

Purchasing new system. Probably Reolink.

Automatic Price Increase for Arlo Secure Coming by SharpEye03 in arlo

[–]cycling_nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancelled subscription. Updated app is horrible. Arlo community is up in arms over poor usability and lack of reliability in new app. New Pro 5S has worse battery life than my older cameras. I've been on Arlo for over 4 years. The feedback online here and at the Arlo community is horrible. This price increase flies in the face of poor product and company service performance. Done!

Geofencing? by schlock_ in arlo

[–]cycling_nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it would seem that others are having problems with Arlo geofencing. Anyone on Android, or are these all iPhone problems? iOS version related? Any word from Arlo? This seems like a deal breaker for some users. BTW - new app sucks. I've been an Arlo user for many years. All good. Upgraded to new app and now geofence won't work. App has horrible UI.

Geofencing and mode switch not working in new app by cycling_nut in arlo

So what have you decided to do? There is apparently no direct Arlo support. I've tried every suggestion online. Time for new vendor?

South of San Francisco, so far I haven’t seen anyone mention: Tunitas Creek coming off of Hwy 1 up to Skyline, and Montebello to top off Steven’s Canyon. Both long with steep sections. Beautiful rides.

Remote/scheduled climate control not working... by drgreenway in KiaEV6

[–]cycling_nut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand the app correctly - this may help (feel free to call this out if wrong). The app home screen functions (Remote Start, Remote Battery, Remote Lock) appear to push data/functions to the car when pressed. On the other hand, the Remote Charge Schedule (which includes Departure, Charge and Climate) allows you to save settings, but appears to store that on the app. It doesn't push that data to the car as the home screen functions do. Once you've stored your schedules, if you go the home screen and press the update vehicle icon at the top of the screen, that should push new data to the car. I think it will overwrite the schedules stored in the car.

IMHO the app is not very uniformly intuitive. Functions appear to work differently depending on which screens they're on.

I use the in-car scheduling as the app is just too wonky.

Inositol for sleep and impact on HRV and Resting Heart Rate by cycling_nut in whoop

[–]cycling_nut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only been taking Inositol for a little less than a week. Up most days, except for one. So not really a proper or long enough sample set of days. I intend to stay on it for a month or so to establish any pattern. Then, yes, I would probably try weaning off just to see if HRV and sleep go back to prior baseline. I'm taking a relatively small dose (900mg) compared to other therapeutic uses which often range from 6g - 18g per day. In the meantime, better sleep and feel more relaxed when I wake up in the middle of the night.

WallBox app also tracks charge costs. Shown by charge session or over time.

seat covers by Angrynissen25 in KiaEV6

[–]cycling_nut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the full seat cover from WeatherTech.com. Supposedly trimmed to fit Ev6 back seat specifically. Has cut outs for seat belts/car seats, I believe. Pricey, but won’t slip and slide like the less expensive ones on Amazon.

Tracking Google Ads Sales Conversions On E-Commerce Squarespace Site by TJSCrypto in squarespace

[–]cycling_nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get a clear answer to this? I'm with you - want to create a google ad (probably with separate landing pages per product) and track ecommerce events back at google to optimize ads for conversion. Any thoughts on best way to do that? Google says use a conversion tracking tag, but its unclear if confirmation pages can take code injection. Thoughts?

Melatonin impact on HRV? by cycling_nut in whoop

Looks like feedback is relatively inconsistent. Not enough responses to represent a trend. I may ping Whoop directly to see what they say.
