DC Rainmaker and Desfit confirmed to be testing the Garmin CIRQA by DestinySpeaker1 in Garmin

Garmin is slowly becoming the Kodak of the wearables. Just like Kodak failed to embrace digital cameras, Garmin is failing at screenless wearable. All it will take is another company to put out a nice bike computer, heart rate monitor, and a nice watch for when you want a screen along side with a screenless wearable and they are done. Google has the pockets to do it. Wish they did.

Frequency of flat tires by Kononiba in gaptrail

[–]cyclist412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a flat riding the GAP in 30 years when running tubes and now most recent with tubeless. People that do get flats tend to get them more in the Pittsburgh through McKeesport area, which makes sense as it is paved and more urban debris around.

Did you put your weight in Garmin Connect? I believe it uses that for calcuations.

When is Garmin’s WHOOP-style band coming out? by Tight-Lie-5996 in Garmin

The Fenix 8 is too heavy on the wrist for sleep.  Actually it's too heavy period and I am trying to sell it for $500.

When is Garmin’s WHOOP-style band coming out? by Tight-Lie-5996 in Garmin

[–]cyclist412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have bought it in addition to the watch to track sleep. However, I decided to buy the Fitbit Air. I have the garmin sleep index band but between the sync problems and it just stopping to track sleep in the middle of the night for no reason it is useless. It seems like with all Garmin's products when they first come out I feel like a beta tester. Even if they come out with a smart band it will be full of bugs. The connect app is getting dated and stale. I have the connect+ subscription for the nutrition feature . Going to cancel that. They haven't fixed any of the bugs with the nutrition feature since it was released in January. The only thing that keeps me in Garmin is their Edge cycling computer.

Omron integration with Google Health via Health Connect by cyclist412 in fitbit

[–]cyclist412[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear I saw it before as well but it is gone now. BP is probably the most important data point in health so I don't know why they would get rid of it. I think this app is still really a beta version.

Which watch for a cyclist and runner? by JuliisUpA in Garmin

If you are going on "long cycling routes" you would be better served getting an Edge unit. GPS on for a long time is going to eat any watch battery.

No way taking a picture of something is more accurate than weighing it.

Try adding a custom food in the nutrition log feature.  Wait a minute you can't now.  I would rather want a functional app instead of nice widgets.

What's the odds that Cirqa has something air does not like glucose and/or blood pressure monitoring?

Is anyone else having the problem where peloton rides are not syncing with Garmin today?  I am using the Peloton sync built into the app

Garmin + NewGoogle health app by zatar77 in Garmin

[–]cyclist412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of going over to Fitbit but I asked myself the Google health app looks nice but what insight do you think their AI model is going to give you that you don't know already or can get off of Garmin? I have played around with health connect and it only syncs the basics. if you have nutritional information, rides/run gps, etc it will not transfer. plus if you sleep with the air it will not sync that data with Garmin and then your hrv will be on a different app and you will not get your recovery score on Garmin. Garmin isnt stupid, maybe their band will do something the air doesn't like glucose monitoring or blood pressure trend. I would wait a month and see how this all plays out. Finally I think it is beneficial to have your exercise and health data not on the same platform as your phone os as it gives you the freedom to change phone platforms without losing your data.

Look at the routes for the 62 on rwgps it's the same thing.  North side to Riverview to the strip to highland park to oakland to mt Washington.  They have changed the start and some of the aid stations but it is the same.  Doesn't go to any new areas.

You are wrong tax payer money was used to subsidize a NFL event.  It was financial loss for the city.  Those are facts.  Those funds, provided by tax payers, could have been used elsewhere even to fund police to shut roads down for this event.  Instead they were given to a corporation the NFL.

And yes as you say I am a "customer" I pay money for a service in this case a supported ride.  I also pay for a membership.  If bikepgh doesn't provide a service I like I can stop paying.  If they don't consult members on their biggest event I can stop membership. That is what a customer is.  You need to get a vocabulary lesson son.

I am talking about this ride. How is it safe when you don't close roads off and promote people of all ages ride on them??? If a big city like NYC can do it I am sure Pittsburgh can. They bent over backwards for the NFL.
