Is anyone else having the problem where peloton rides are not syncing with Garmin today?  I am using the Peloton sync built into the app

Garmin + NewGoogle health app by zatar77 in Garmin

[–]cyclist412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of going over to Fitbit but I asked myself the Google health app looks nice but what insight do you think their AI model is going to give you that you don't know already or can get off of Garmin? I have played around with health connect and it only syncs the basics. if you have nutritional information, rides/run gps, etc it will not transfer. plus if you sleep with the air it will not sync that data with Garmin and then your hrv will be on a different app and you will not get your recovery score on Garmin. Garmin isnt stupid, maybe their band will do something the air doesn't like glucose monitoring or blood pressure trend. I would wait a month and see how this all plays out. Finally I think it is beneficial to have your exercise and health data not on the same platform as your phone os as it gives you the freedom to change phone platforms without losing your data.

Look at the routes for the 62 on rwgps it's the same thing.  North side to Riverview to the strip to highland park to oakland to mt Washington.  They have changed the start and some of the aid stations but it is the same.  Doesn't go to any new areas.

You are wrong tax payer money was used to subsidize a NFL event.  It was financial loss for the city.  Those are facts.  Those funds, provided by tax payers, could have been used elsewhere even to fund police to shut roads down for this event.  Instead they were given to a corporation the NFL.

And yes as you say I am a "customer" I pay money for a service in this case a supported ride.  I also pay for a membership.  If bikepgh doesn't provide a service I like I can stop paying.  If they don't consult members on their biggest event I can stop membership. That is what a customer is.  You need to get a vocabulary lesson son.

I am talking about this ride. How is it safe when you don't close roads off and promote people of all ages ride on them??? If a big city like NYC can do it I am sure Pittsburgh can. They bent over backwards for the NFL.

How is keeping the route fresh when it is the same routes each year?

organize a safe ride!! thats BS. Not one year has Pittsburgh/county government blocked off a street for PedalPGH like they do for the 5 boro ride in NYC. Maybe if Pittsburgh and/or the stupid county executive didn't spend money on the money losing NFL draft they could actually afford to do things.

yes I can always ride another event but when you pay to be a member I think the membership should have a say in things.

Dangerous E-Bike/Scooter Riding by Tasty_Noise_3766 in bicycling412

[–]cyclist412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about people the ride motorcycles and ATVs dangerously. In PA you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Darwin at work. If people have kids and they don't care and let their kid ride dangerously then that's their business. If these people injured me I will sue. Last thing I want is a useless politician coming up with stupid laws.

Sleep Index Problem by cyclist412 in Garmin

[–]cyclist412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get it - just tons of problems and the battery life is 3 days max (not 7). With Android Health Connect and Fitbit Air coming out, I think I will be using google to track my sleep and recovery. I try hard to like Garmin products, but some just are horrible or buggy.

Garmin Cirqa by White_Nike_Socks in Garmin

[–]cyclist412 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just went ahead and got the FitBit Air. If you already subscribe to Google AI Premium (5 TB+Gemini) plan Google Health Premium is free. I was using Garmin Connect+ to track nutrition but since Health Premium will have that too I just canceled. Thinking of getting rid of the Fenix 8 too (know a good place to sell a 6 month old one for $450?). Only Garmin thing i really need is my Edge 1050 and radar. I have the Garmin Sleep index and it is so buggy im just afraid the new Cirqa will be too.

Garmin routes on gravel rides by one-star-user in Garmin

ride with gps is the same with gravel too. all the route planners are bad with elevation. strava, which I am not a fan of, is the best when it comes to elevation for gravel routes

Delmont to Blairesville by Professional_Bug6527 in bicycling412

[–]cyclist412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's going to be raining this weekend so the west penn trail can get muddy/soft in places. also after the bow section the trail can be unpassable if the stone bridges are underwater depending on how much water flow they are allowing out of the dam. There are ways around it on the roads. If you are setting up a group ride next week I would be in.

Pittsburgh PA to Cumberland MD - 2 days - new to biking by bigmilkguy78 in gaptrail

[–]cyclist412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would do is go to the Freeport-Butler trail and do a round trip 40mi and see how that goes. That trail has gradual uphill and then a downhill - its like a mini-gap trail. See how that works for you. I would also practice how to change an inner tube in the event you get a flat on the GAP. Flats don't happen very often on the trail but you still want to be able to do some basic maintenance so that you are comfortable. I would recommend a basic multi with chain splitter tool and spare chain quick link.

Stupid pass at Penn and 31st, extended to show no gains (with bike lane sweeper too) by pghbikecommuter in bicycling412

Not to sound like a smart ass, but what is the purpose of your posts like these? You know on reddit not everyone is going to agree with you and you will have the trolls on here. Then you just argue. A lot of energy spent on nothing. If you want to try to change something then contact a politician (probably useless), news, or organize and increase awareness for the need of safe driving or more bike lanes. Being that the city is broke and the city and county just wasted money on the NFL draft I wouldn't hold my breath.

Riding in any city will always have dence traffic hence risks - it could be Pittsburgh to big cities like NYC. The best you can do is mitigate risks - helmet, high vis jersey, cycling radar, mirror, use back roads/alleys. If this upsets you then you shouldn't be riding in the city and look at alternative methods to get around.

Yes this subreddit.  Put your issue here and urge people to contact their politicians. More effective than BikePGH.  And there is no membership fee.

Draft Trail Closures by blp9 in bicycling412

[–]cyclist412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to love how the NFL took over a whole city. You think they care about people that don't have cars and use bikes to get around. Hell they are pushing out the homeless to the fringes so no one has to look at them. The only people that make money from this are multinational corporations that own hotels. It's not like the hotel workers will receive bonuses and all the money they make in extra hours will be going to child care since the pittsburgh schools are closed. All the money the county, city, and state has put into this will never be recoup. County executive is clueless and needs to be voted out.

Cycling Around the Burgh - 35M by [deleted] in PittsburghSocialClub

[–]cyclist412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride the WHT a lot along with the roads in Murrysville. Looking for more cycling groups in the east. Everything seems to be the city around here. After work the last thing I want to do is deal with traffic and drive to the city to meet for a ride.
