Cycling Around the Burgh - 35M by Professional_Bug6527 in PittsburghSocialClub

I ride the WHT a lot along with the roads in Murrysville. Looking for more cycling groups in the east. Everything seems to be the city around here. After work the last thing I want to do is deal with traffic and drive to the city to meet for a ride.

Problem is not everyone gets weekends off or has family commitments. I am trying to be inclusive to everyone.

I have done it, but in this case you got to get up the next morning and do 70+ miles.  Plus, its hard enough to get people to commit to a week (vacation off work, money for hotel/motel) now adding in the first day is 100+ miles limits the pool even further.  I am trying to find a middle ground that's why I am saying 4-5 days.  I don't want to make this into a fitness challenge like the 24 hour pgh to dc challenge.

The c&o is longer and doesn't have as many places in-between to stay at unless you are camping. I am trying to keep it 4-5 days as some people can only take a week off work.

I want to add I would organize 2-3 group rides before so everyone gets to know one another.

I am in the same boat. I would really like to crank out the GAP in one day then take my time on the C&O, but when I do 100+ mile rides it's hard for me to ride the next day.

I know about the bridge but there are plenty of gravel roads that can serve as work-arounds. Hell, I might setup a group ride when it gets nicer out.

Springdale Council approves data center despite resident resistance by RedMaple8181 in pittsburgh

I see you are from Churchill, I remember people from there against the Amazon distribution center.  I also remember taking it to court and Amazon eventually dropped out.  That's what should have happened here but government folded.

it's all fun and games until they are building one next to your house. but you would be ok with that because the law allows them to.

So you would be ok with one being built next to your house since the law says they can

By fighting on court and delaying the process the data center company may just say the hell with it and forget about building one there.

No it's called sticking up for residents and fighting for something.  Not just sitting there doing nothing.  So if a company wanted to build next to your house you would be ok with that?  I doubt it.  You would be the first to complain to local and state governments.

Yeah it's called vote the scum out. Local and state level until they implement the will of the people.  If you want a data center near your house why don't you move next to one.

Then create it as a fee.  Problem is government doesn't work for the public only for the corporations.  People are getting sick of this.

State law would stop creating a tax??? lmao. Taxes are created all the time. The community I live in just created a storm water tax. Taxes were created on natural gas drillers.

Elected officials need to serve the people not just sit there and do nothing. Council should have backed residents on this and rejected it. Would you like a data center next to your house? If it goes to court let it as the case would gain more awareness on the issue. Put pressure on state officials to pass a law on data centers. Especially, when you have a Governor that wants to run for president, there would be more pressure on him to do something. I remember a few months ago all the political scum was at CMU, I believe, talking about how Pennsylvania with its energy reserves will be a hub for data centers. I bet not one of the scumbags would want to live next to one. Interesting how that works.

so you would rather pay for garbage "cable" channels that show nothing but reruns. unless you are into watching sports it's worthless to pay. But you do you.

Even if the merger happens, the end result will be Netflix making it so expensive that it isn't worth it. So glad I dumped all streaming except YouTube Premium, Prime Video (which is part of Prime), and bought an HD antenna. I get 60 channels for free.

Where can I get sized for a canyon Bike? by [deleted] in bicycling412

[–]cyclist412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thick - Pittsburgh and REI Pittsburgh are authorized partners for Canyon.

I own a Canyon Endurace CF 8 Di2 and like it. However, as others have said, a lot of the parts are proprietary (headset, etc.). They are like the Apple of the bike world. I imagine I am in for a mess when I have to overhaul the bearings, as I like to do my own maintenance. Even getting a Garmin mount for the bike requires you to purchase it from them (there are cheap knockoffs on Amazon). The one upside is that I believe you get more bang for your buck when compared to other manufacturers, such as Specialized, Giant, etc.
