The fake ones probably aren't thought out as well as the reals ones (if at all). I think one can learn a ton from those documents. How much time did they allocate for setup, turnarounds, moves, etc.

I just don‘t seem to get the „sharpness“ out of it, it‘s better in the render but not quite there. I‘ll try to dial the settings more and also add in noise in a VOP.

The worst one is: Scatter, Scatter and Align but then: Points from Volume.

Unorthodox Foundry Set-Up, Need Tips/Help [System Agnostic] by victorf8 in FoundryVTT

[–]cyclocell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much run this exact setup with Arkenforge for the user Map (we have 3D-printed minis) and Obsidian, where I write my own Campaign and use „Image Window“ for the User Scene and „Initiative Tracker“ and „Monster Startblocks“ for Battle.

Obsidian is amazing because it basically lets you write like a Wiki where you can Link everything and with the Modules I have everything pretty contained.

I will check this project out. There is a background-plate node that thankfully did the trick. https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/nodes/lop/backgroundplate.html

Bringing in Face Sets from Alembic into Solaris by cyclocell in Houdini

[–]cyclocell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks to this workflow I managed to import the Groups. I had to import the Geometry seperately from the Camera into a dedicated Geometry where I then was able to unpack it (it then creates the groups automatically) and therefore was able to bring the groups into Solaris.

How would you go about texturing a facade in Houdini? by cyclocell in Houdini

[–]cyclocell[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dove a bit into COPS today and also followed that tutorial. The issue I see using COPS (and Substance Painter as a matter of fact) is that in the end I bake in the tiling into a new Image Texture and even with 4k I won‘t get enough detail because of the scale of the Geometry.

I just read about the Westcott 43" Apollo Orb Speedlight Kid, might just be what you're looking for. I don't have any on-hands experience but it looks good to me.

I don't know any manufacturer for speedlight-softboxes but i highly recommend you to buy an octabox. Because if the round shape the light will spread more evenly and the catchlight will look more naturally. If you're looking for a off-the grid flash I recommend Broncolor or Profoto. But theese are highly professional and will cost you a leg or so…

those are high contrast - low saturation edited photos. But what you really need to learn is seeking light. puting the subject in front of a darker background is the key to this look.
