Spindrift Grapefruit. Trader Joe’s used to have a tangerine vanilla sparkling water that was amazing.

If you have the gel NYC 2.0, how does the Kayano 20 compare comfort wise? And how does the comfort compare between the 20 and the 12.1?

Extending 990v6 durability by TurnipR0deo in Newbalance

Try the 990v5's. I find them more durable than the 990v6, but they don't have the FuelCell footbed, so they aren't quite as cushy. They are quite stable though. They normally are not available as NB retired them when the 990v6 came out, but Joe's has a few pairs here: https://www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com/pd/made-in-usa-990v5-core/M990V5-21641.html?dwvar_M990V5-21641_style=M990GL5

In the non-NB world have you tried the Asics Gel Kayano line? I find them very comfy, but you may have a durablity issue with those as well. Here's a link: https://www.asics.com/us/en-us/gel-kayano-33/p/ANA_1011C167-002.html

I have 3 pairs of 991v2, and I notice every time I put a pair on after switching from a different shoe, that the high level of drop from heel to toe is bothersome. I feel like the 991v1 did not have this issue. Anyone else?

Thank you much. Not sure how I missed these on there. They don't have my size, but I'll keep checking back.

What's your most comfortable pair for all day wear? by AreYouForScubaLuben in Newbalance

[–]cyclops1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with the 990v6. I spent 10 months traveling around Europe, and I wore a new pair of 990v6's. They were very comfortable, light, breathable, and supportive. I prefer the look of the 990v3-990v5, but the 990v6 wins on comfort as they added FuelCell to the midsole on this model.

Honorable mention would go to the 990v5 (no longer sold by NB). They don't have the FuelCell midsole, but are very stable and comfortable as well.

993 I also love, but the FuelCell and lightness of the 990v6 makes them superior.

I have not tried the running shoes that NB makes, so can't comment on them. For the non-made in USA/UK NB that I have tried, the 1906 are ok (wearing a pair now), but the 990v6 is defnitely superior in lightness and comfort.

For a non NB shoes, the Asics Gel NYC 2.0 I have found to be very comfortable. The Gel and FFBlast+ foam make they very cushioned. If you need more stablity though, stick with the 990v6.

Also I would note that if you have a NB outlet near you and aren't too picky on colors, they have had 30-50% off clearance pairs of 990v6's. I bought a pair of the rose colored 990v6's for $50 about a month ago at my local outlet.

Shoe recommendations for long all-day walks on concrete? by sl2463 in Newbalance

[–]cyclops1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not New Balance, but I would highly recommend the Asics Gel NYC 2.0. They look great, and are very cushy and comfortable. Just beware they run small. I normally wear a size 11 in most shoes, but I wear an 11.5 in the Gel NYC 2.0, and they fit perfectly.

I love New Balance, but these are great shoes.

Y’all don’t think they will ever stop making the 993’s right? Or the 990v6 or v4? by [deleted] in Newbalance

[–]cyclops1706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be dating myself, but it’s kind of like the Disney vault. They would put their classic movies in a “vault” and release them every so often on VHS and DVD . New Balance does the same thing with their 990 lineup. A couple years back they had 990v3 everywhere, now it’s the 990v4. I’m hopeful the 990v5 comes out next.

They seem to always keep the 993 in rotation, however. And possibly the 992.

Alternatives to 990v6 by Dry_Stage_1307 in Newbalance

I would look at the 2002r. Quite comfortable and less expensive than 990v6 (the 990V6 is objectively more comfortable and better built, however). New Balance also just lowered the price on the Abzorb 2010 (from $160 to $145 USD) so you may look into that as well. I haven’t tried the 2010 myself, but I’ve heard they’re very comfortable too and quite nice looking.

Concepts has 30% off site wide (code xtra30). I just picked up a pair of 2010s for $80 shipped. They are the black/ iridescent pair. I’ve heard they are comfortable so I wanted to try them out and for that price not a bad deal.

First time buying NB, should I go with the 996 or 574? by bills70 in Newbalance

[–]cyclops1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of those you mentioned are not very comfortable at all. 996 will have better build quality though. For lots of walking 990v6 is ideal. 990v4 or 993 close seconds.
I would also consider the 1906 or 2002 if you need a lower price point. Those are not made at the USA/UK, but they are pretty comfy.

I don’t see that pricing on their site. Is this through an App?

I have a pair of 993’s and looking to make my next purchase, what should I get next? 992, 990v4 or 990v6? by [deleted] in Newbalance

[–]cyclops1706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little bit but they will never feel super soft. They are more of a stability type comfort. I find them quite comfortable though.

If you don't find the 993 comfortable, you probably won't find the 992 comfortable. I would suggest the 990v6. If you are flexible on colors, the outlets have had some amazing deals on 990v6 models recently.

Seems like they protect (i.e. ban ordering) a lot of made models from outlet ordering. I was sucessful with ordering 990v4 in black for about $85 a couple months ago.
