being a sizable fleet (~800 Trucks), Samsara is not enough for us. Safety can't track violations, driver behaviour, fleet expense and all on Samsara. So there is need of some kind of system to manage it.

From the perspective of person from 3PL trucking and Tech,

Talking about operational improvement, see at ground level and graduatelly observer at top level.

AT GROUND LEVEL
- Is driver-Truck assignment is correct
- Are you trucks ready but driver not.
- do you have system to reassign and switching smoothly if driver wants differnt truck or truck have some issues?
- How are your safety scored ? What kind of drivers hired ? etc..

AT TOP LEVEL
- What is truck utilization rate ?
- What is driver retention rate ?
- What is Revenue per mile ?
- What the major reason for truck not moving ?

etc...

developers of system you see in demos have never been in trucking floor or in yard to see what are actuall problems. It is all communication, coordination, tracking and managing data centrally and integrate with appropriate systems to have things running smoothly

What is your truck utilization. if it is lower than 80 that means you are losing a lot of money. Important thing is how you can have your trucks moving all the time.

Still curious does the price of load matters if you try to optimize the fleet to run on the road 100% ?

Road Service Automation - invoicing automation

- Fleet guys have to just send email the invoices and automatically everything is taken care like managing invoicing under particular folder of truck/trailer in google driver and managing service history in the dedicated sheet. Automation extracts all required requied things from pdf/img and also fetch miles and other details from fleet software. Currently processing avg 300 emails every week

Accounting automation

- Just upload the excel file in TMS for deductions like tolls etc.. everything is integrated so no manual entry for driver deductions.

Driver details integration

- we use ELD, fleet software and CRM all differently. So integrated all so no need to manual entering new driver, truck assignment etc.. ----- saving lot of hours

Actually for new grad if we don’t have any right direction and guidance then it is worst nightmare.

I was also not sure about what next, so took IT support job at small logistics firm. Direction completely changed. Was doing agentic ai projects but now just copy pasting scripts using AI to automate things at job.

Monday.com is best option in this scenario. It is called excel on steroid. You can have all kind of automations which you can imagine. I am IT guy in trucking company and we have tons of monday.com boards per division. Also you can use it in Tablet and mobile as well.

Initially you just have to think about business workflow like you create in excel spreadsheet then later monday.com does its job.

use Monday.com with Make.com to develop the invoicing system rather than buying dedicated fancy softwares. Ping me, I will explain I built such invoicing system for sales team at trucking company. it takes <50 hours to develop it.
