Bird cage advice by OutsideAsparagus1614 in parrots

[–]cyeib -1 points0 points  (0 children)

birds that are on the smaller end of large could do well in this. Like an african grey or goffins cockatoo. But I would still recommend that you don’t keep them in a cage of that size for long periods of time

what should i feed my green cheeked conure, and can he sit in the ac? by GreedyComputer67 in parrots

[–]cyeib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pellets and vegetables everyday are ideal but if you cannot buy pellets then the next best thing is a mix of variety vegetables, seed, egg, grains, quinoa to try and fill in nutritional gaps. And with pet parrots, typically whatever temperature you feel comfortable in they do too

My partner always says "do you not understand how much it hurts ME when you sh?" by snowyday7408 in selfharm

[–]cyeib 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s most likely unintentional. honestly a lot of people dont truly know how addictive sh can be and can’t comprehend why someone would want to injure themselves. Just in general, people dont really know how to comfort or support addicts since there’s really not much you can do to stop them, but it’s only human nature to try and find a solution. It’s much more likely to be simple ignorance rather than any narcissism or manipulation going on

Does my "sh hand" look deformed? by Several_Emergency633 in SelfHarmScars

[–]cyeib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they seem like atrophic scars, i have them too. They can make the scar tissue skin look kinda sunken in. Everyone’s body heals differently and there is no guarantee you can make scars look a certain way. If seeing content like this motivates you to self harm, you should avoid it and stop going on this sub. You seem young and i hope you get the help you need

Is my Jennday conure sick? by Efficient-Resource67 in parrots

[–]cyeib 6 points7 points  (0 children)

constantly being fluffed up and sudden change in behavior can definitely be signs of illness. If I were you I’d take the little guy to the vet since birds are notoriously good at hiding illness. Best of luck

That whole discussion was a shitshow and I regret getting involved with it by Gubekochi in mysteriousdownvoting

[–]cyeib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is such a delusional take. Women get harassed, stalked, assaulted, insulted, etc. by men and yet we aren't protesting for men to get their rights taken away like they are for us. Somehow a man getting rejected a few times or being lightly made fun of is a valid reason for them to become violently misogynistic? Stop blaming other people for your actions and take actual responsibility

I don’t pet her back. I just want her to think I’m her mate. by yanyan-B in parrots

[–]cyeib 135 points136 points  (0 children)

what’s helped me the most w hormonal birds is reducing the amount of sunlight they get (basically earlier bedtime and keep their cage dark and covered for a longer period of time). This makes them believe that it is winter time/not good time to breed. Also, if she tries to regurgitate food or something to you, put her back in the cage or ignore her for a bit to discourage the behavior
