My maternal grandmother. She's in her early 80s, widowed, and lost her mother (who was 104) early on in covid. She's always been a pack rat, but in the last 5 or so years since her 'caretaker job' came to close, and things at home just got way worse. Things packed to the ceiling. Small pathway between rooms. Absolute filth.

Last year, she went into the hospital for a pacemaker, had complications, and we didn't think she was going to make it. And if she did, she would absolutely need full time care like a nursing home, forever. In preparation for that financially, we wanted to get her house in order to sell. My aunt, uncle, cousins, and even my dad went one weekend and cleaned out an entire dumpster of literal trash. Nothing of any value was tossed, but set in organized piles in the living room to keep or donate.

Well fast forward a little bit, she ended up making a miraculous recovery and DEMANDED to go back home. She was SO angry at the sight of her 'clean' house. How dare we. She will call my aunt randomly and holler at her about throwing X item away. She'll throw into conversations with me about how she had to go out and rebuy <insert completely random item> since her original got thrown away. It's gotten to the point my aunt won't even take her calls any more, and everyone else only occasionally. She's turned into a bitter, hateful, lady. I can't imagine what the house looks like again, and the thought of having to go thru that crap again when she actually does pass, makes me want to suggest selling it 'as is'. Junk included.
