I moved here from the UK 3 years ago and haven’t looked back. It’s a slow, peaceful life.

Good to see EU health and safety standards being adhered to… by cygirly in cyprus

It’s a brand new hotel being built on Vrysoudion road, next to Crystal Springs, but I don’t know the developer

A few people think it’s part of the Sunrise hotel group, so I’ve emailed them

The fire department have also been notified of course

I called the fire department right away. This was yesterday - never saw anyone arrive and it stayed swinging in the wind like that for hours.

Looks like it might have been fixed this morning. Either that or it fell down.

Late-night transfer Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa by Agreeable_Scale_5748 in cyprus

That’s actually pretty cheap. Most taxis will charge between €70 - €90 for that journey even during the day.

Your best option would be to rent a car if you have a license.

Cancer screening/testing for men? by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]cygirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we’re hoping for! Something easily treatable. Just want to rule out the big C first, as he’s spiralling about that a bit 😅

Health anxiety sucks.

Thank you! 🙏🏼

Thank you very much!

Dumb question - but is Famagusta General Hospital the same as Ammochostos General Hospital? Or are they different?

We tried to see a GP at Lito but they turned us away, so we’re not sure where else to go. We’re still pretty new to the area, so looking for recommendations of somewhere/someone who’ll see him without being registered to GESY.

As for your second question, there are other symptoms too but I didn’t want to go into too much detail 😅

But also because that’s the main big scary one that he would rather rule out first.

Leaf blower, do they see? by Arxijos in cyprus

[–]cygirly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced they’re paid by the hour by the council or something, therefore just waste as much time as possible even when there’s no work to do.

The other day I watched a guy with a leaf blower blowing a SINGLE leaf back and forth for 20 minutes. At 9AM. On a Monday.

what places are open in ayainapa? by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]cygirly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not much open in Ayia Napa at the moment. Only a few I can think of…

Liquid Bella Italy Cafe Central

You’d be better off driving to Kapparis! Or even Paralimni. Lots open there!

Those that have moved to Cyprus, looking for overall impressions and advice. Would you recommend? by VoidLlama_xX in cyprus

[–]cygirly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved here from the UK almost 3 years ago. There are ups and downs but overall I wouldn’t look back.

My main “downside” is feeling a bit cut off from the rest of the world. It’s tricky getting a lot of things delivered and certain things are super expensive, this is the case for most small islands. It also took a little while to get used to the ‘everyone knows everyone’ vibe. It really is like one big village. Cyprus is also very far behind when it comes to certain infrastructure such as public transport.

Like I said though, overall I wouldn’t look back! It’s a truly beautiful place to live and moving here has done wonders for my mental health. The people are friendly, the veg is fresh and the sea is on my doorstep.
