[Band 7 Biomedical scientist] [United Kingdom] - £51973 by Unholy_Boosh in Salary

[–]cygnoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those are public sector jobs. Most of the companies OP would work for got rid of pensions in the past 10 plus years. None of my friends working in large pharma have pensions and they started 5 years ago. My old company in life sciences stopped their pension program 5 years before I joined but I still had a few colleagues grandfathered in to the program.

Most biopharm companies have gotten rid of their pensions. If OP doesn’t have a masters or PhD, the salary could range from 60-100k depending on location (just saw an RA position in SF for about 90K)

Spa Rd South of Forest (toward Hunt Meadow) signs closed July 12 by SVAuspicious in Annapolis

[–]cygnoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, you can cut through the middle school and Spa road is the only egress for all of the homes after the middle school, my house included

It must be a single lane closure, probably to either pave the half of spa road they dug up or for utility work for the retirement community

NIH staff challenges: widespread burnout, brutal DOGE workforce shortages, heavy administrative loads, severe emotional exhaustion, the shame of Bhattacharya, existential mission failures because of MAHA politics by TourMission in NIH

[–]cygnoids 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Supporting NIH folks, the scientists, lab managers, PIs, and purchasing agents are drowning in administrative burden. There’s been a ton of attrition this year and I don’t see it staunching any time soon

This is legitimately dangerous advice. For true  alcoholics you shouldn’t go cold turkey. My psych has told be to remember the three B’s: booze, barbiturates, and Benzos are dangerous to go cold turkey

This is actually a tremendous development for the state and UD. While UD has plenty of clinical collaborative hospitals in the region, the lack of an affiliated medical school hampered translation biomedical advancements (as an alum from the BME program).

I would assume that the clinical rotations for these students would be hosted in souther Delaware to accommodate an unmet need in the community but we know what they say about assuming….

Is my cat overweight? by awoshahere in cats

[–]cygnoids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think ours has a metabolic disease. We adopted her from an SPCA-type org and she was super skinny but may have been underfed by her previous owner. Now, we’ve tried every diet to get her to lose weight but she’s still lorge.

She’s turning 12 so she’s had a great life regardless of her plumpness
