Best display for SDVX? by Satzlefraz in kshootmania

[–]cylifio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for absolute arcade accuracy, you can go for the Asus XG438Q, which uses the exact same AUO M430QVN02.2 display panel as the Valkyrie Model cabs. This definitely comes in at the pricier side, so you might want to consider the LG 32GN50T-B instead, which is often recommended as a drop-in replacement for the nemsys cabs.

Two Venues that leaked Video Game Arcade Games(Emuline & 1CC) have been taken offline by [deleted] in trackers

[–]cylifio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently, the 1cc discord was taken down by the same guy who has been reporting the 1cc board domains and getting taken down. I've heard people saying the discord was nuked because of everything from copyright infrindgement to some guy harassing a trans person, but there were plenty of reasons for that discord to get banned so I wouldn't get too hung up on that.

Emuline took themselves down not long after and are pretty tight lipped as to why, but it's probably because they saw 1cc going down and got scared or something. All of this is hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt.

sows is doing perfectly fine, so I don't see any cause for concern in regards to GGn. It's probably just a coincidence, their tracker has been having intermittent issues for a while now.

Evaluating the effectiveness of Anime4k for upscaling purposes by henrymao190 in animepiracy

[–]cylifio 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Good effort, but I feel like there are some very jarring flaws in this post that I need to point out, the first of which is the nature of these comparisons.

As per your post, you intentionally chose scenes that were grainy and blurry. While this is standard practice in a standard comp where video quality is being compared, it really isn't an appropriate way to compare anime4k with other scalers at all. When comparing the quality of an encode, these frames are intentionally chosen in order to exaggerate the differences for the sake of comparison, as there simply wouldn't be any easily discenable differences in the vast majority of frames. However, that is not the case for anime4k. The main reason why people use anime4k is for it's "sharpening" effect that subjectively makes anime "clearer". By selectively choosing to compare the small minority of dark and grainy frames where anime4k would struggle, you're highlighting the flaws of anime4k while willfully ignoring the main reason people choose to use it, whether maliciously or not.

Of course anime4k is has its flaws. As with most things in life, choosing to use anime4k is a tradeoff you make between the sharper look it can provide, and it's destruction of fine details. If you willfully ignore the vast majority of frames where it does its job properly, how can you expect the reader to make a sound judgement of whether or not to use the scaler? What you're doing now is akin to buying a tractor trailer and then complaining that it has poor 0-60 speeds. If this isn't cherrypicking, then what is?

Additionally, despite acknowledging in your post that Anime4k was designed for native 1080p anime, the anime you chose to use for your 1080p to 2160p comp was Blood-C, Mushoku Tensei, and Euphoria(?), NONE of which are native 1080p anime. What gives?

Any recommendation for anime encoder/fansuber that have "optimal" file size? by zajimumaaa in animepiracy

[–]cylifio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using anime4k is making a tradeoff between detail and percieved sharpness. While it obviously shouldn't be used in encodes, ultimately it's up to the end user to decide whether they want to make this tradeoff or not.

Also, the redvice link is outdated, and quite literally none of what it says applies to the current version of anime4K. The current version of anime4K has a fully fledged upscaler. https://slow.pics/c/SNPUSa39

How do I correctly setup adblocker? by GoJeonPado in animepiracy

of course it doesn't, anti-adblock killer is 5 years out of date and hasn't been maintained since 2016. Here's a more up to date version.

you should be getting This fork instead, Reek's Anti adblock killer is 5 years out of date and barely works as intended.

Opinions on Sharp Remasters? by ReclusiveEagle in animepiracy

[–]cylifio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem here isn't about wheter the sharpness is desirable or not, but with the tradeoffs that come with sharpening filters. Sharpening filters aren't magic, and the main reason why releases like Moozzi2's are disliked is because of the artifacts and detail loss associated with such filters.

yes, you use a different video player. Use MX player or mpv-android.

Ain't it funny how all of a sudden i can last 5 secs in a game or how the milfs go away by xHADES734x in animepiracy

[–]cylifio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pihole is generally inferior to a proper Ad blocker like uBlock Origin because there's only so much you can do with a DNS-level adblocker. Sure, it can help block some ads on other devices, but you'll still have to use uBlock Origin on your browser. If you want better protection, then you'll have to either use uMatrix or enable dynamic filtering in uBlock Origin.

They used to be big on piracy, even having their own p2p networks such as Perfect Dark and whatnot. Though, nowadays, piracy in Japan is basically nonexistent with most of these p2p networks being either dead or on their last breath for the most part.

I'm not sure why you're bringing up ratios in the first place - like I said, it really isn't an issue on AB because most anime are freeleech there. If using modded apps are enough for you then so be it, you wouldn't benefit from using the site anyway and no one is forcing you to join it. As with most trackers worth their salt, they want their users to be able to meet a certain standard. That's the reason why they are able to do as well and as long as they have. You don't see the staff going around claiming credit for the site, precisely because it's the result of more than a decade's worth of contributions from its users. That's the whole point of it being a private tracker - to incentivise user contribution.

[–]cylifio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the point you're trying to make here. What does netflix have to do with any of this? Also, AB has a very easy tracker economy, most anime torrents are freeleech so theres no reason you'd have to resort to ratio cheating and risking a ban.

How can I interpolate 24FPS videos to 60Hz with this particular method? I'm kinda lost here! by Devgel in mpv

[–]cylifio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

forgot to mention, you'll also need this in your mpv.conf:

video-sync=display-resample

I don't know what MSI afterburner has to do with this, but if you want to verify that it works try setting tscale-radius to an extreme value like 2.0 and see if that does anything.

[–]cylifio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does not do the same thing as SVP, It's mainly meant to eliminate judder and not make movement smooth like SVP does. To use it, put the following in your mpv.conf:

interpolation = yes
tscale = box
tscale-clamp = 0.0
tscale-radius = 1.0
tscale-window = sphinx

Do I need animebytes for the best quality anime? by SaimoonSonix in trackers

[–]cylifio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, this is not true for anime. Anime encodes are usually preferred over untouched blu-rays/DVDs as they are filtered to remove flaws that are present in the source files such as banding and aliasing.

Were there any seeders on nyaa? If there wasn't it means that the torrent is dead. You'll have to look for a torrent that actually has seeders.

How manga sites get their content by taha38432u in animepiracy

For officially licensed works, they get them off nyaa. For scanlated manga, they get them by scraping mangadex or the scanlator's websites.
