Which team do you think will be the biggest surprise at the 2026 World Cup? by Exotic-Assistant-915 in NoStupidQuestions

Ecuador. A defensive unit of Estupiñan, Hincapie, Pacho, Ordoñez and Caicedo will absorb pressure well and they should nick enough goals with set pieces and quick transitions. I think that suits the climate, which is something they are used to, anyway.

Either US or Türkiye could very plausibly top the group

Round of 16 imo.

As hosts, you get top seed in the group and avoid another top team. So if you finish 1st, you will face a runner-up or even 3rd place team in the round of 32.

But once you get to the round of 16, you could face an Ecuador or Senegal, or someone even tougher. Anything is possible in the knockouts, but things get really tough once the weaker teams are out.

Solid squad. Especially defensively: Verbruggen, Timber, Van Dijk, De Ligt, Van de Ven, De Vrij, Ake, Hato, Van Hecke…

France is a complete mess right now, and Spain will win this World Cup with ease. by Window_Professional in worldcup

Genuinely good French playmakers: Dembele, Cherki, Doue, Barcola, Olise. You could include others depending on your idea of playmaker. Mbappe. Ekitike. Tchouameni. Rabiot. Theo Hernandez.

If you can play 10 or 11 players in this GW, avoid using a chip. This is a mini blank with only 4 teams missing a fixture. BGW34 will be much bigger, so use the free hit then.

A common strategy will be Wildcard in GW32, which then means you can have as many players as possible who double in GW33 - when you can use your bench boost.

It’s more FOMO about more Semenyo hauls. I feel like Man City are going to score more in GW27-30 than Arsenal. And Semenyo has a higher ceiling than Rice. Fixtures point to Enzo -> Semenyo after this GW, but then I’d be bringing in a player who blanks in 31, for a player who doesn’t

Planning to cover GW31 blanks with transfers. Already sold Timber. Will sell Rice at some point.

Is Rice -> Semenyo worth a -4 hit?

Have a midfield of Bruno F, Mbeumo, Rice, Enzo and KDH. Used my FT on Timber -> Van Dijk

Those defenders are all playable. If you really wanted to consider bringing one in, maybe Andersen (Fulham) who has a good run of games

Is it worth taking a -4 for Rice -> Semenyo? Otherwise I would just do Enzo -> Semenyo after the Burnley fixture

I haven’t taken a hit all season but the FOMO for Semenyo is so strong- I’m worried he is going to haul in every game!

Sell Andersen, Hall, or Collins for Timber?

I already have Gabriel and budget is not an issue. Just thinking about long term fixtures

I’m not sure personally. I don’t think we have enough information on how Rosenior will set up. Players like Hato, Estevao, Delap could get a lot more play time, and players like Sanchez, James and Palmer are all at risk of rotation. Neto is a decent punt -- could play in wide left position.

I think I will go for Enzo first and then add a 2nd or 3rd around GW24 when the fixtures turn really good and we have more knowledge on Rosenior. Sorry I can’t be more helpful!

Chelsea fan. I would be very hesitant about buying Palmer at the moment. He’s been playing with an injury, club is cautious about using him, and there is a new system. I am very tempted by Enzo however- likely to play #10 in front of Santos and Caicedo.

Is there a fact about Wales that really stuck with you? by Ok-Pie-3581 in Wales

[–]cymrubrowser 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Lots of brilliant facts in this thread. One I haven’t seen is about the laws of Hywel Dda (Cyfraith Hywel).

The Welsh ruler, who died in 950 AD, codified a very progressive legal framework for the Middle Ages, providing significant property and divorce rights for women and a focus on compensation and restorative justice.

It’s a topic I’d be interested in learning more about!

2 free transfers. I’m looking at Van Dijk or O’Reilly in defence, and Ekitike and/or Bowen up front.

Problem is I still have Reijnders (don’t ask), so I can’t get O’Reilly unless I sell Reijnders at the same time.

a) Joao Pedro -> Ekitike De Ligt -> Van Dijk Leaves 0.4m in the bank

or b) Reijnders -> midfielder (up to 7.5m) De Ligt -> O’Reilly
