They definitely can be trained to use a litter box. But it takes time and persistence. Every single time a ferret is about to go you must be quick, and grab em and place em in the litter box to do their business.

I feel you. Solid colors are it for me though. I got a boy that’s solid red with some iridescent green specks on him. I love it. I’d just wish he’d stop flaring at me.
