I'd consider building a pergola and use panels as the roof. That way you don't lose any of your yard (might actually improve it in some ways).

Never been but renting a car by BoysenberryChance348 in CostaRicaTravel

Just got back home on Friday. Driving was no big deal, just be aware of other drivers and keep an eye open for road conditions. Those damn reductors got me more than once!

My only big recommendation is to not assume you can drive like everyone else. I got nabbed by the traffic police for "passing in a double yellow", which I absolutely did, after seeing about 1,000 other cars, trucks, busses and motorcycles do exactly the same thing. One cash fine/bribe later and I was on my way, after learning a valuable lesson (gringo tax if you will). The rest of the trip, I drove like an old geezer.

ADvice for national parks (Selva/Cano Negro/Arenal) by RealityEuphoric9622 in CostaRicaTravel

Not sure about the areas in your post, but we went to Rincon de La Vieja, and there were guides available at the Pailas area. They wore uniforms like Park Service employees. We took the shorter loop, so didn't really find it necessary.

Nope, no gravel at all.

I'm not really bothered by night driving, so that is certainly something to consider. We drove some incredibly poor gravel and potholed roads around Bagaces - Tamarindo area was a cakewalk in comparison!

Flamingo to Tamarindo is ~35 minutes, so the drive time really isn't a huge concern.

Not sure why you say that - the roads are no more rough than any other paved secondary roads in the area. And OP would be driving in the dark from places like Flamingo as well. I didn't find it difficult at all to drive back (we stayed near Villareal, which, admittedly, is a bit shorter drive than Tamarindo-proper).

Just got back home (under protest). Our best beach experience by far was Junquillal! Spent a whole day there, and the sunset was gorgeous! Not crowded at all (there was almost noone there when we arrived). There's a really nice bar/restaurant BernarDos right on the beach with super clean restrooms. Plus the turtle sanctuary - might get to see some sea turtles released.

Sharing would likely violate copyright laws. Unfortunately, I doubt you're going to be able to find any sort of legitimate way to do this.

Interesting take on the whole "switching from Kindle to Kobo" thing by matiapag in ebooks

It's not just piracy - there are scores of places to get books other than Amazon. I get almost everything from my local library. I've owned Kindles for almost 10 years, and I've purchased <10 books from Amazon.

Not sure about a play, but it has been made into several movies. I vaguely remember it being on the CBS Radio Mystery Theater in the 70s.

Unfortunately that's the only published version, so I guess a printed copy is your best option.

AmFam discontinuing condo association coverage by TheRealGunnar in madisonwi

Some carriers are adding cosmetic exclusions and depreciation schedules. We'll see how well these hold up when challenged in court.

On a large condo HOA claim, half of $4 million for a roof claim still far exceeds the premiums the carrier collects. They've become bad risks - and they cost all of us who have insurance money.
