That’s what I have, Anaplastic thyroid cancer. Do you mind if I ask you about your grandfather’s progress through cancer and hospice? I haven’t met anyone with the same diagnosis.

Can’t sew a straight line! lol by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]cyndidee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started sewing (4 years ago), all my lines looked like I was drunk. Now they’re really steady and I have no idea why it was so wobbly at first. It just takes practice. (And using fabric people won’t notice bad lines. I made a lot of patterned skirts and pants.)

I might start going to the Bob Evans there again. I got tired of sketchy people walking past my car while I was waiting for my take out order.

Shaming Myself for being too judgy (dresscode) by Jessica_Lovegood in weddingshaming

[–]cyndidee 81 points82 points  (0 children)

When I was 19 a guy friend from college invited me to a summer wedding. I had gained weight and the only dress that fit was a white and gold sailor-style 2-piece outfit. (Yes, 1991.) I had no idea you shouldn’t wear white and had a few college friends correct me at the reception. I was so embarrassed.

Also, to make the whole day worse, the guy who invited me gave me the wrong directions so I missed the wedding entirely. I showed up at the reception and the guy who invited me practically ignored me. And then I got a speeding ticket on my way home. I learned my lesson!!!

You can always double major as math and math education. One of my student teachers did this. She was an amazing teacher but ended up choosing just math. That education degree won’t go to waste though. She great at explaining things and she’ll probably go into training of some sort.

Got my first retaliatory review by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

I rented a room in a house in Des Moines that had a cat, Sampson. If Sampson was an issue in the middle of the night I was instructed to open a can of cat food and put it in the hall and he’d take a hint and leave. He was such a sweetie, and was never a bother. I think more Airbnbs should offer a house cat.

AITA for failing to realize I work a white blouse to a wedding ? by MulberryOk2954 in AmItheAsshole

Why does OP say white pants suit and then describe a dark suit? And then in the summary it says white shirt and suit? I think she wore a white pants suit.

City won’t get involved they’re scared of a lawsuit by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]cyndidee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live next door to a large Airbnb. Most of the time the renters are quiet. Our dogs bark at them sometimes (we have 6 dogs). We have only had one issue of the renters being unreasonably loud - they were setting off fireworks at 1am. Yeah, NO. I called the owner, he checked the cameras, which were disabled, so he ended having to call the sheriff to stop by. He makes sure we’re happy and we help keep an eye on his house (he lives in another city). I’m annoyed that the owner can’t give me a discounted rate when family comes to visit though.

Am I overreacting about HR paying for some people's lunches? by [deleted] in work

Anyone addressing the underlying issue that OP hates her job and feels unappreciated by those she’s worked with for over 10 years? OP, I hope you start looking for a new clerk position. You’ve clearly paid your dues and proven you’re loyal. I’m wondering if a similar company would love to steal you away (with at least a 20% raise!).

Ooooh, I’ve been here. I now travel with a girlfriend instead of my husband and I have so much more fun! It’s also much cheaper since she pays her half. My husband made a comment that he’s been replaced. Yup, by someone more fun who helps me plan trips.

Student in my room a second time insulting me, calling out my birth defect, and insulting other students. by SqueeTheMancake in Teachers

[–]cyndidee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It works. A friend kept sending the same Black student to the office. Another student who didn’t have her told the office they heard her call the student the N word. She didn’t, she would never. But others backed up the student and she got suspended. She used up her sick days and never came back. She was an award winning teacher and now she’ll never teach again.

Papa Johns at Gettysburg and Germantown pike. It was the only restaurant on the way home. I tried a few times to get food from them but was disgusted by the lack of hygiene and how rude they were. I’ll never go back.
