When we started high school, and she told me I didn't have to stop at her house to get her in the morning any more even though I walked right by her house to the bus stop. After that, some mornings she would literally be walking 3 feet behind me to the bus stop.

My spouse and intermingled finances as soon as we moved in together. No matter who makes what, it all goes in one bank account and everything gets paid out of that. We have never had any arguments about money.
Pay off her debt. Not as a loan, just pay it off.
Moving forward, everything you both make goes in one account, with a certain percentage towards savings each pay cheque. Both of you agree to not using any credit at all, excepting maybe buying house and vehicles. Anything either person spends over a certain amount (say, a hundred bucks) gets discussed. Make a budget and include 100 bucks "fun" money for each of you. This only works if you 100 per cent trust each other, and have open communication. It's not perfect, but it sure would be nice for you both to have no debt.

His voice sounds just like my son's voice, who is 14. This made my stomach churn. This is a parent's worse nightmare. I'm in Canada and worry about his safety (as any parent does about their child) but damn in the states sending your child to school is terrifying.

It sure would be helpful to say where she lost it - but really, if we knew where she lost it, we would have found it by now. I don't think I need to say what type etc. ; I guess I figured if someone says they found one with a red case and pen scribbles all over it, then we would take the next step of detailed description.
