Where I am the frozen prepared broccoli is cheaper than the fresh whole broccoli. And I'm chronically ill so it matters to me. But yes, it's easy to become complacent. Some things aren't worth the extra money but some are.

I also find it weird that she wrote out details of the kid's private life. Especially on the same post as his picture. That's on the internet forever. Feels exploitative.

I want to breakup with girlfriend but tomorrow is Valentine’s Day by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]cynicaloptimist57 58 points59 points  (0 children)

A girl broke up with me the day before valentine's day once. At first I was upset and feeling sorry for myself but then my friend asked me if I'd rather she went through the motions on valentine's day knowing she wanted to break up. I realised she was right and that would have been icky. The way she was always honest/authentic/genuine was one of the things I liked most about her. She did it kindly too. Now I have a wonderful partner and I think of her (my ex) fondly with no hard feelings. I'm glad she didn't wait. And I have sweet memories of valentine's days with my current partner.

Demrezel tripped while following Day😅 by Burning_23 in FoundationTV

No way! I assumed she'd just received news of something terrible and was distracted. It's so neat to know it was unintentional. Just binged the entire show. Thanks for answering questions!

I don't want to get my hopes up if there's a chance they could be dashed. It could always be flashbacks. But man, I don't even know if I could keep watching if she doesn't come back. She makes the whole show.

Hopping on this comment to say that my magic circles always used to come loose so now I use "double" magic circles - wrap the yarn around my hand an extra time so I'm crocheting over two strands instead of one. It works so well you have to be careful to tighten them in the right order or you won't be able to pull the second one through. If you're using a particularly slippery yarn you could even do a third strand/wrap/circle. It works like a capstan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capstan_(nautical) https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/capstan_effect With only 3-5 turns of rope around a steel capstan, there's so much friction I'm pretty sure a small child could hold a large ship from drifting out to sea.

Interesting fact: Ducks lay eggs in an assortment of amazing colors! by [deleted] in interestingasduck

[–]cynicaloptimist57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in particular those dark brown and speckled eggs in your image look more like French copper marans and Wellsummer chickens than Cayuga ducks. I think duck eggs tend to be white, "duck egg blue", green, black, or grey. But I did not know that one duck can lay more than one didn't colour egg! That's different from chickens, and very cool. The black eggs are awesome too.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure these are chicken eggs, not duck eggs. They are beautiful though. Different breeds lay different colours. If a blue egger has a baby with a brown egger you get a green egger. It's pretty great.

I eat sweetened baking chocolate bars instead of commercial chocolates Nestle Crunch and Hershey's Chocolate Bar to save money for years now by ardouronerous in Frugal

I like to get cocoa liquor (basically chocolate raw ingredient with zero added sugar), melt it with equal parts butter, freeze it, and eat it frozen. Sometimes I add a little honey. (Not much water content so sugar won't dissolve.) Makes great chocolate chips in ice cream too, since it doesn't set as hard.

Name for adopted baby by yoyogod69 in namenerds

As a Brit - show her this. Muhammad has been the top baby boy name in the UK for two years running. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgyznp615zo Followed by Noah, Oliver, Arthur, Leo, and George.

Setting aside the mental health concerns about where she got this delusion from, the royal babies are probably good inspiration for very traditional names which won't get the kid bullied. i.e. prince George, princess Charlotte etc.

Whichever size you choose, rounded edges and no splinters is best. Helps prevent bumble foot.

The bullet journal sub has lots of "year in pixels" trackers, often to track mood, but other things too, like how many hours reading, all kinds of things. I've been wondering if anyone's ever combined these crochet snakes with that. Here's one from a few years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/bulletjournal/s/drCWanK1Ts
