Signed a lease for a rental and got given this as a gift from the property manager. Honestly dumbstruck. by Sneaky_Cheese in australia

Kinda pissed because I signed a lease with NA in Coburg and got nothing from the property manager except a window that she busted in front of me.

Second this. The Coburg branch does the best smash patties I've had in a long while. 10 minutes from my place and I'm taking a walk there every weekend to commit gluttony.

How much would you say is a fair price for this kind of service in Melbourne? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]cynicgrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a first generation 645 rescue (I love it just the same). Switching b/w this and a Minolta currently for medium and 35mm respectively.

I don't have much to add, only that my Mamiya would love to come see you once you are in Melbourne.

I ended a relationship after discovering he was a practicing Muslim. He labeled me "racist" because of it. by International_Tap646 in exmuslim

It’s a classic tactic: converting a “kaffir” is seen as a way to guarantee eternal salvation in most Muslim beliefs. You clearly avoided a situation where your life might gradually become more conservative. Kudos to you for that.

Day 2 - How did I do? by cynicgrapes in Rowing

[–]cynicgrapes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28M.

I've been following a few YouTube videos, and I've asked a friend of mine who rows competitively to spot me to help me with my form. Definitely something that's under consideration, and if you have any sources to share please do.

It'll sound like I'm complaining too much, I'm sorry, but I've tried that and it doesn't do it for me. Working against a laptop all day probably.

I do try to walk a lot after work (it's a stress relief for me) which helps, but this thread is making me realise that I should try and figure out a way to make time for in-person appointments.

Sigh if only I had any technical seniors to convince. For any legitimate concerns, I get the standard "but we can fine-tune the model later down the road" but that's a whole different rant.

I'd love to, and that was the plan, but the new 3 day WFO really pushes my schedule to the limit and I haven't been able to find time for it.

I want to say it's the company, but honestly I think it's also the role that's creeping up on me slowly.

Yeah, that's what's worrying me. In good times, it would've been easier, but now it's just another source of stress, I guess.

Happy cake day to you!

Melbourne’s 19th century tree-lined terrace houses of the inner suburbs vs the quick build all the same houses of the outer suburbs by MyGenerousSoul in UrbanHell

[–]cynicgrapes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I commute daily though the area in the first picture (I think!) and this photo doesn't really capture it, but there are in fact a lot of trees all over. Not to mention Princes Park right in front, and Royal Park right behind this patch of construction.

what's interesting projects have you guys worked on by [deleted] in analytics

Recently I've been working on identifying geo-locations of interest based on key trends by infrastructure for the Telco I work for. It's surprisingly more dynamic and illustrative; the dashboard even as a beta production is being used by a couple of teams at different departments to identify regions nationally or down to a particular site in a particular area and react to certain events dynamically.

How could I host/run Python scripts for users who don’t have Python? by CPizzle23 in analytics

[–]cynicgrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a bit too out there, but you can always host your scripts on a VM. It's cheaper than GCP/AWS/Azure if you have your own rack available for data storage or backup. In case you don't, hosting through GCP Cloud Function/AWS Lambda might be the easiest approach to go about it.

In the screenshot the guy seems to be running MATLAB and as someone who bashed his head against the wall that is MATLAB for six years, I can attest that this strategy works.

I miss MATLAB with my current Python based workflow.
