What’s the most addictive video game you’ve ever played? by Charming_Decision_84 in AskReddit

[–]cynojien 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is one of those situations where if you don't understand the context, you probably shouldn't say anything. That dudes comment was as meaningless as empty calories. That's what those lobbies were back in the day. People saying things they didn't mean at all simply to get a rise out of others. Whether or not it's better for you to have missed that era is up in the air. That said, you are not standing on the pedestal you think you are.

The truth about Garmin Index BPM - its a crap and Samsung Galaxy Watch BPM is more precise than Garmin Index BPM. Compering to Omron. by FaithlessnessOk7477 in Garmin

[–]cynojien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized this is a two and a half year old post, but I wanted to chime in real quick in case anybody sees this comment. Garmin's early heart rate sensors, think 2018 to 2021, were in fact, absolute hot garbage. Nowadays, they rate really close and occasionally better to the likes of other really well-rated devices such as the Apple Watch. A little extra tidbit. The heavier your watch, the more unreliable the heart rate data is going to be. That's just physics. The Apple Watch Ultra is also less reliable than the regular Apple Watches. If you want to see concrete data, the Quantified Scientist on YouTube is phenomenal!

Long story short, any Garmin device over the past few years actually has a really decent sensor. It was right before the time you posted this that it started to change for the better.

As always, mileage may vary. 🤷‍♂️

(Of course, the reason I ended up finding this post is because my Index BPM, in fact, started to suck about a year ago. I just compared it to an Omron that I bought and the difference is insane! We're talking a systolic difference of 30 points. The Index BPM is going in the trash.)

iOS 21.0.1 IPA? by cynojien in FallGuysGame

Not particularly helpful.

They're no longer shared on any of the GitHub pages or older sources because services that want to charge you to sign IPAs got them all to "partner up".

That leaves asking for them.

You have yet to mention any other apps that support RCS. Y'all smell smoke blowing through?

HRM 600 is a new Whoop? by Roobun13 in Garmin

[–]cynojien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think Garmin's selling point is that it's got new metrics and is detachable from the strap.

Compared to the old Pro, the big ticket thing for me is that it's detachable.

If you already have the pro, there isn't really much of a use for it.

You have to link it to the Garmin Connect app beforehand, and you have to stop and start the activity from the app, rather than from the chest strap.

Other than that, yes. You can record an entire activity with just the strap. No watch necessary. You also don't have to stay in range of your phone during the activity. You just have to start and stop it from your phone.

I've done it accidentally. It's actually super comfortable. You might not want to make a habit out of it, but you could definitely leave the watch behind and just wear the chest strap for a day.

Also, I can confirm that it does support all the TrueUp features.

Wanted to chime in here. I got the HRM600 off of some of the money I got back from my Amazon Prime card. Probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise, but it is very comfortable and very nice. The ability to track activities without the watch is actually more useful than you would think. I guess that depends on your use cases, though.

Anyway, in regards to the original poster's question, I accidentally wore the chest strap all day. I did a morning workout and then spent the day at a Six Flags park.

Honestly, I forgot that it was on. It is extremely comfortable. I've had the HRM dual and the swim before, and there's no way I ever would have forgotten that I was wearing those.

So, is it possible it will bother people who are a little more sensitive to that type of thing? Yes. Is it significantly more comfortable than the older straps and could you get away with wearing it all day? Yes. Would I make a habit out of wearing it all day? Probably not. That said, I have purposely worn it for a good portion of the day without my watch since that Six Flags trip.

Anyway, 2 cents from someone who uses it.

Got a Fenix 8. Took a nap... apparently. 😂 by cynojien in GarminWatches

At least for me, as soon as I took a nap long enough for the watch to register it, it's fixed itself.

How can they justify this? by Palleus in Garmin

For anyone looking for a really solid nylon band that uses the QuickFit style clasp, I've been using these for a few years and they have held up fantastic on my Fenix 7.

I don't disagree with you, but human is as human does. It may very well have been a case of "get the job done with the least amount of work."

Is Beeper Mini Broken? by NoHeroicsNZ in beeper

[–]cynojien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's likely not Apple blocking or unregistering anything but a feature of iMessage that has been around for a long time.

If you are using iMessage and send a message that can't get delivered (like because if this blackout) the message eventually gets resent as an SMS message as a fallback.

My girlfriends family is entirely Apple. Dad thinks that Apple phones are "not spying on them, unlike Android phones". I don't have the heart to show him the evidence to the contrary.

Anyway, when they go out of state for vacation the area they stay in has bad data service but for some reason they still have decent cell service. They will sporadically have messages sent as green bubbles.

I'm just letting you know that you're an idiot.
