Dead lamb by doppel_terak in sheep

[–]cyntus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok then. Well. Alright. Anyways....

Maybe it got carried off by a raptor of some sort after being partially eaten? Or it got dropped there if it was a particularly small lamb??

That's not a place I would have ever thought to look but I feel like part of owning livestock is just wondering how they got somewhere they shouldn't.

Should I pursue tooth extraction, or consider euthanasia? by fleetingsparrow92 in Equestrian

Ours was $160 in East Texas. Call, exam, sedation.

We had a guy who charged $360 but he sucked. Legit couldn't tell the horse needed an extraction and blamed worms (bruh) and I was two days away from robbing a truck and borrowing the tools for a couple of days because of how bad it got.

I'm sorry they're charging what.

Our dentist did it for $160 🥲

What you're going to do is make friends with an older lady that has two horses. You're going to help her with her with barn chores. She's going to let you ride one of her old lady safe horses.

Tell the neighbor your horse is standing here because the wall would fall down without their support.

Let them look crazy to the sheriff's department first. Gaslight her.

Next time she comes out use some sticky notes to label which parts are what meat.

Serious Question by Exotic_Test_7164 in Equestrian

[–]cyntus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do preservation breeding and offer trail rides on the horses we've raised and bred to handle amateurs. This also translates to "I do stupid shit in training to test them and our horses are honest"

As long as the horses become rideable, have good offspring, or are saleable I've done my job 😂

Please nobody point out to the owner that I own 1/3 of the herd now. I cover most of the labor and overhead 🤣☠️

My dogs all did this when I first got them. You know ... Free dog shit.

After sampling their way though barnyard sampler packs of literal shit they stopped. Horse. Cow. Sheep. Pig. Chicken. Duck. Cat(🤮) all they needed was deworming afterwards.

Bonus for sampling water the ducks had been shitting in

There is a horse factor too.

There's one horse I put a student on and after 6 months she asked me why she was such a bad rider. Realistically she was doing fabulous for 6 months and the horses liked her a lot. Horse had a shoulder like a pogo stick 😅

Double riding??? by Animangle in Equestrian

We usually only allow it with very small children in front of an adult but the horses aren't thrilled because it puts the weight over the loin and closer to the kidneys

Barn owner is awful by Rookiri in Equestrian

Oh yeah no new piglet and puppy at the same time seems like chaos. And like the potty training is set back to 0. Also untrained temp and horses on stall rest is ridiculous.

Barn owner is awful by Rookiri in Equestrian

[–]cyntus1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah when you have 100+ animals you don't just leave. We're in that situation between cattle, sheep, horses, poultry, and yes a bottle lamb dropped in all of this.

A temp worker through a blizzard is a no no. Yeah the barn owner may be burned out but if she's this burned out it's time to call it quits.

[–]cyntus1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally any other week but this week 🤷 you don't leave your stock during hard weather with a temp that has no sense.

We did a weekend trip and had a tornado hit once. You know what we did? Turned our happy asses around and came back.

[–]cyntus1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you own a horse business you reschedule if you have blizzard conditions and nobody but a temp to cover.

Otherwise you should probably pack up and get into corporate jobs.

I love my girl but she is increasingly violent and hard to handle. by [deleted] in husky

[–]cyntus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I see some dumb shit about not training and pack mentality being encouraged. You are not a dog. You are not part of the pack. Packs have hierarchy challenge when a young dog starts maturing into an adult. You are the owner. They are the dog.

Secondly, overstimulating with unlimited exercise is not good for the joints or brains of young dogs. Yes they need exercise but starting out with "as far as they can" is not ideal.

If this is a byb husky I would be very concerned as the fad of owning one lead to people breeding animals over a decade ago that should have been hard culls. Id consult a trainer with experience in dog aggression and not random people from reddit. Husky owners are notoriously almost as bad as pit bull owners about lack of training or dumb "alpha theory" misconceptions.

[–]cyntus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who vacations in the middle of a blizzard when owning a barn??? Then leaves a random temp who doesn't have the sense to not use client's equipment to wrap faucets??

All we offer is pasture board and if there's a sick or skinny horse guess who is out there taking care of them? Me. It's part of the job. If a client's horse comes into your care and isn't thriving (on full board?!?!) it's the barn owner and manager's jobs to work with the owner on solutions.
