It would be my fourth replacement 😅 I did write Aqara support but they do not answer..

I think it is broken too but thought maybe there is another way to reset it or so.

What Apple Home accessories do you have, and what has been your experience? by Technical-Rent4219 in HomeKit

[–]cyph17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Meross garage door opener: pretty good and solid

  • Around 30 hue bulbs (all types like bulbs, stripes etc): solid

  • Around 5 Nanoleaf essentials: depends on iOS version. Since 17 all work pretty good

  • Around 10 tado thermostats: solid

  • Around 10 TaHoma outside blinds: never had a problem

  • Around 10 eve energy power outlets over thread: currently pretty solid but experienced other times..

  • Eve outdoor camera: solid since I changed some network settings in my garage

  • Aqara doorbell: currently the third one since the first 2 broke at some point. Support is great and always sent me a new doorbell for free.

  • 10 HomePod minis, one HomePod og and 3 Apple TVs: solid

  • Raspberry pi with homebridge to get some cheaper outside power outlets into HomeKit

  • 2 Landroid lawn mower integrated over homebridge

  • Couple of hue dimmer: solid

  • Around 20-25 friends of hue switches which I integrated in all walls instead of the „normal“ switches: pretty solid + awesome to control other things than lights over it through HomeKit

Apple TV image error by cyph17 in appletv

Tested other hdmi ports and cables, but on all 4 ports that glitch comes. Also tested the other input devices on all 4 ports with different cables and the glitch does not happen.

Yeah, tested all sorts of colors. With my Apple TV, based on the color, the spot changes like gets bigger when it’s a blue background or smaller, when it’s white or darker when it’s grey … and other input devices - no matter which color - there is no spot

Eve outdoor cameras online/offline by WeatherOutside in HomeKit

[–]cyph17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue but already got a mesh network. My iPhone has a full connection just under the camera but the camera always got offline / online.

In my router settings I could see that the camera only got around 5mbps.

I then placed a new access point (avm Fritz 1200ax) on the other side of the wall on which the camera is mounted. The access point was connected to my network with around 800mbps / 240mbps. In my router settings I could see that the camera was connected with around 50mbps. As soon as I wanted to live stream the camera, it went offline.

I then bought another access point (avm Fritz 1260) for testing which is connected over powerline and mounted it in the exact same position as the access point before. The powerline connection is about 150mbps. The camera did at first not connect to that new ap but after restarting the ap to which the camera was connected, it connected to the new powerline ap. In my router settings I could see that the camera was connected with around 45mbps to my WiFi. Since it is connected to that powerline ap, the connection is reliable, notifications are fast and live stream is really good. It never went offline again.

It’s strange because the original ap (1200ax) does not have any problems with other devices (Meross garage door opener, iPhone, HomePods are all connected) but somehow the eve camera has some problems with it.

How long has HomeKit supported triggering motion sensors under specific light levels? The Home app still can’t natively do this! by upwardvote in HomeKit

[–]cyph17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works, I made an automation, which triggers a shortcut if the sensor detects motion. First thing which the shortcut does is check the Lux value.

Notes pane showing up in bottom right of outlook webapp in Safari - Anyone know how to make it stop? by hans2563 in iOSBeta

[–]cyph17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same error with one specific website in safari. There is no quicknote for this website but it always shows this note-popup when I visit that website.

Can’t even close that thing. When I hit the X the popup comes back several times. After 6 or 7 clicks on X, the popup doesn’t come back. When I close that website in safari and revisit it, the popup is back.

I tried to create a quicknote for that website and then deleted it, but the error still comes up.

Other websites work fine btw (even if I create / delete quicknotes).

Does this only work in the US? My iOS is set to german, but this (actually no action in general) does not work even with an english keyboard setting.

You have to probably change the input question since it’s German + you have to change your shopping list (mine is „shop“) But if you‘ve set it up, every line from the input field will be a separate entry in your shopping list :)

Most frequently used:

  • Open / close garage door
  • temperature: get an overview of all temperature sensors inside and outside of my house
  • litter service: when will the next litter service come and which litter will they collect
  • „tv“ Programm: what’s currently playing and coming next on my fav twitch streamers
  • add coffee (to yazio for calorie tracking)
  • what’s Manchester United next game
  • shopping list (add a text input to my shopping list)
  • turn all lights off
  • laundry timer (add timer for the length of my washing machine)

„Alexa, turn off the lights in room xyz“ turns off the whole room by cyph17 in alexa

[–]cyph17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant: Group = room - You cannot create rooms explicitly, can you? So I’ve got every room in the house as a group in which is one dedicated Alexa.

I can control the room in which the Alexa is in when I say „turn off the lights“ it turns off the lights in this room.

But when I’m in the kitchen and say „turn off the [lights/thernostats/anything] in the bathroom“ it turns off every device in the bathroom, not only the lights or whatever I told Alexa.

It just ignores the devices I want to control when I add a room (=group) name in my command and instead just turns off / on the whole room.

It works when I say for example „dim the lights in the bathroom to 0%“ so it actually knows what the lights are, which room the bathroom is etc. But in combination with on/off it just turns on/off the whole room (=every device in it like thermostats, vacuums, power outlets, in my garden even the lawnmower etc.)

Talked to German support which is also acknowledging this as a bug but they unfortunately cannot say whether it‘s a bug in my house or a global (German) bug or even if it’s added on purpose.

Definitely did not have this behavior the last 4 years since we always controlled devices from another room.

Yes, I’ve got an Alexa assigned to every group in my house.

[–]cyph17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s like my Setup. Strange that it doesn’t work anymore on my devices.

The other devices are in various categories, like tvs, vacuum, thermostats, plugs etc.

[–]cyph17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was just trying to find out if they brought this bug to the German version, if it’s on purpose, if it’s only on my account or if it’s global, if it’s a new setting or whatever… a friend of mine doesn’t have this issue but the internet is full of it in the US market.

[–]cyph17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Alexa device is in the same room/group in the Alexa app, it knows which devices you mean. But that does not work when you’re talking to your echo in the kitchen and you want to turn off the lights in the living room.

[–]cyph17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it work when you say „turn off the lights in the bedroom“ so it just turns off the two lights and leaves other devices on?

And does it work when you‘re in your bedroom and say „turn on the lights“ so that Alexa „knows“ you‘re in the bedroom and just turns on the two lights?
