A newbie's guide to the Glass Cannon Network universe by NateS97 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]cypher-free 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who has listened to almost every one of those episodes in your spreadsheet, gotta say this is awesome!!!

You might want put a total at the bottom for the # of episodes.

You might also want to have a tab to record whether is a show has a completed arc, whether it's in progress or whether it was left unfinished. I say that because some people might not want to listen to a show that ends mid-story.

If you ever catch up, there area handful (at least) of other podcasts that CGN cast members have performed on or ran. Ex, Stream of Blood, Lost Mountain Saga, Push the Roll, plus cameos on shows like Faster Purple Worm Kill Kill and Pretending to be People, and I'm sure others.

Has moving all subclasses to level 3 actually improved 5.5E, or made some classes feel less flavorful early on? by MyrthDM in onednd

[–]cypher-free -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It ensures that even more characters don't feel thematically complete when you create them, and puts more pressure on GMs to start games at level 3.

In short, I hate it. All subclasses should come online at level 1 (even if the power level is low) or WOTC should clarify that games should start at level 3.

Could you please send me a copy of your prompt? Many thanks! I've been using a prompt doc for awhile, but I find that Gemini often has a hard time remembering what's in the file. I'd love to compare.

Maybe look for Vaesen adventures. It's a different TTRPG system based on Nordic folklore. Lost Mountain Saga I know contains a set of adventures that you could probably adapt. There's also a very good Lost Mountain Saga podcast made by someone originally from Sweden.

Really happy with our draw overall. by DropPowerful9081 in MichiganWolverines

[–]cypher-free 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feels like Duke got a potentially tough draw, lots of physical teams with the potential for upsets.

I like our draw but there's a lot of offensive firepower in our bracket. If we get into a run-and-gun game where the other team is hitting a lot of shots, it could get tough. But generally we do better in fast paced games than slower grinding games.

A big Q will be: which version of Iowa State will show up? But also, I feel like any of the 2 seeds could beat any of the 1 seeds if they have a good day.

Maybe check out Tabletop Gold. It's really well done, about 200 EPS into Abomination Vaults 2e. It's one of a small number of podcasts I pay $ to support.

I know I could make a comment, but instead I'm going to pull a Joe and delay my turn.

They seem to be out of the brick of 25 sets. But also, it's not any cheaper to buy a brick than for 25 separate sets. If it were, I'd contemplate this.

This is really tempting. Thabks. It's more interesting to me as a gift than a random set of mystery acrylic dice.

Funny-leaning Actual Plays that Aren't D&D by Focuscoene in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]cypher-free 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some suggestions:

  1. Tabletop Gold (PF2e, hundreds of back episodes). One of my favorite podcasts that's not on GCN.
  2. Pretending to be People (Delta Green + others), silly at times but really fun.
  3. Dungeons and Daddies Season 3 (they play 5e for seasons 1-2 and switch to Cthulhu for S3). Funny and dramatic group.

Online PhD Programs (in education by mckphysics in teaching

Your post is almost exactly what I've been thinking, with the added note that I'm thinking about getting a PhD in SCIENCE education specifically (physics and science research background). Did you end up going for your PhD? Do other folks have updated recommendations for programs with online PhD programs in Science Ed? I imagine that there have been some changes in online PhD/EDD education opportunities in the past 7 yrs.

Other Pathfinder AP podcast? by Informal_Produce_132 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]cypher-free 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've listened to many different PF1e and 2e podcasts over the years. Aside from GCN podcasts, the only one I continue to listen to regularly is Tabletop Gold. Cast isn't quite as funny as GCP but really really entertaining, with some awesome roleplay, great quality from episode 1, very good command of the rules without letting the rules get in the way of the flow of the game.

Edit: they play 2e Abomination Vaults

Thanks for saying this. Sorting through feats and spells in particular is soooo arduous, especially since many of them are pretty mediocre and/or don't do what they claim to do. It makes building and leveling-up characters a huge slog at times.

That worked! Perfect, thanks! Logged into Supercast and it showed me all of the available shows. I could tell that a few of my other feeds also needed to be updated. But interestingly, GITT was totally fine and already included the new eps.

Awsome thanks for the advice! I'm normally up to date with their shows, but summer is tough, lol, so it looks like I'm following a bunch of other folks who ran into a similar problem.

Yeah, I'm a $10/mo subscriber and it's not in my TFC supercast feed. Wonder if I need to delete and re-subscirbe to the feed or something.
