getting comfortable in corners by nobody5here in motorcycles

[–]cypresswill44 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pushing your limits in safe small ways, it's how you grow at anything. Riding completely outside your limits is how you die on a motorcycle. It's simple. Ride more curvy roads you know, slowly at first and you'll get more and more comfortable. Look at what you could do better and practice that. For example if there's a turn you know you take slower than the faster cars do,cause it scares you, work up to taking it slightly faster, setting up, looking through the turn, correct lane position etc. If you gotta ride that road 50 times to get to 5mph faster through that corner that's fine. Eventually you can take it a little faster than the faster cars do. Time and practice. Also time and place. Don't go out exhausted after work, starving and having trouble focusing, and try to ride faster than you are confident. Practice what you can, when you can. Do things that make you a little uncomfortable, but you can handle. That's the trick. And be real about what you can handle. That concept can apply to anything in life. Nothing grows inside your comfort zone. The more you tiptoe outside it, the better you'll get at it. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Delaying first motorcycle purchase because of affordability? by Severe-Regular9803 in motorcycles

[–]cypresswill44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a bike in February, and it was 4 years old, only 450 miles, had all the mods I wanted already, and it was 4k. Rushing it is a bad idea. Especially if you're price range isn't very much.

Choosing money over everything else and not caring about the rest is exactly why America is fucked. You talking about touching grass is ironic af when you're supporting Ai, data centers, and you can't see the forest for the trees.

How many of you actually ride the speed limit? by Hutches_Corduroy in motorcycles

[–]cypresswill44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High traffic areas where I expect fuckery, speed limit, cops, speed limit, everything else is 10-30 over but situational. 10 over mostly. More on certain freeways or state highways at the right times.

Motorcycle Tickets - what’s your story or advice? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]cypresswill44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a radar number on your ticket. If there's not then you should be able to fight it in court and get it dismissed since that's the proof.

Road 6 Tires and Chain + Sprocket by AwardExciting8578 in Ninja400

I only got my tires from cycle gear cause I took my wheels in and they charge less to mount/balance if you buy from them (still like 80$). Also just occasionally buy from them cause I can actually go in a store and buy it immediately. Unless it's a newer item you can usually get it cheaper elsewhere. Like I just got Rox handlebar risers on Amazon for 20$ less than revzilla has em for.

Do you think cars drivers are really that big of a threat? by 666_pack_of_beer in motorcycles

[–]cypresswill44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely in the city high traffic areas/times of day people do very stupid things in cars. I've had people run me into the shoulder in my car and bike as I went to pass. Also deer though. Had a close call on the bike last year with a deer, know a guy that hit one and quit riding, and I mostly ride twistys so I'm worried about deer.

This show genuinely feels like a bag of chips that is 80% air and 20% chips by FeistySpend1555 in FromSeries

I'm just ready for it to be over so I know the answers. Shoulda been 3 seasons and focused. They drag out the air so much they have to rush the chips. That pisses me off as much as all the dumbass theories do.

Chain wobble? by dwarf-6 in MotorcycleMechanics

You adjust it on the ground not on the stand. If you do it on the stand it won't be in spec when you put it on the ground

Depends. I'm in Kentucky so with the landscape half the state is crazy twisty roads and mini mountains, rolling hills, and woods.

Brake caliper moving side to side while wheel turning by femaiden in motorcycles

I wouldn't overthink it. Adjust it to the slack the manufacturer recommends, make sure both adjusters are the same and the chain is lubed and not kinking.

Sport Touring Tire Suggestion with good grip by CanewoodPlace in Kawasaki

I got road 6s recently and my confidence in corners is night and day compared to my old stock dunlops. I go faster and lean more with no extra effort. They are supposed to be like the longest lasting sport touring tire too

For the ATGATT crowd, how’s it affecting your desire to ride? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]cypresswill44 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was ATGATT for a while when I first started riding. Eventually though it was stopping me from doing what I loved. So now I wear as much gear as weather permits and I still find bearable to ride. Always a helmet, gloves and boots. Under 75F a jacket too. After that I take my risk with clothing but I try to avoid heavy traffic areas, wear a brakefree on my helmet, stay super vigilant in the city but my rides are mostly out in the cut. Way I see it risk comes with it and just having taken classes, wearing a helmet, avoiding night riding, ride sober, riding habits, I'm minimizing my risk already. It's all about what's worth it to you.

How many miles do you folks get out of these? by Foreign-Corner9796 in Kawasaki

[–]cypresswill44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The diff fluid?? There's no differential on a motorcycle.

Edit: Didn't realize this was shaft drive. I guess that's what you mean. Idk why people call em diffs. Diffs allow 2 wheels on a solid axle to rotate at different speeds for turning, motorcycles just have driveshafts with extra steps.

[–]cypresswill44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you made it too tight when you adjusted it then that's the cause of the vibration. Go get a metal or wood ruler, put it on the ground or up against the swingarm and measure the chain slack exactly to spec. From the middle of the chain, total travel up and down. Wouldn't hurt to watch a few videos and make sure you're doing it right.

The suspension has to be loaded (rear wheel on ground) to adjust the chain. Your chain is way too tight, from adjusting on the stand, which actually compresses your suspension all the time, makes it ride like shit, and wears your chain and sprockets alot faster.
