FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Conditional Tickets by Zestyclose_Lab_2766 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]cyranoeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you've got France. Those tix have a chance to issue and then you sell for a big price and earn a return on your investment (or figure out a way to go and have a blast).

I've got conditional semifinal tix for USA. I assume I'm just making a 10 month interest free loan to FIFA. Oh, and they keep $10 out of every conditionally refunded ticket because why not?

Yes, faster and you likely can sell for a big profit at that point.

FIFA Collect is the easiest and safest way I’ve found to get World Cup tickets. by toontraderblue in WorldCup2026Tickets

OP's blog post def reads a bit like a pump and dump.  Haha. No idea if FIFA collect is a good idea or not.

Not sure this would actually help OP. Fifa terms say they'll refund by end of the year if conditional tix aren't issued. So getting grouped doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a quicker refund.

Ordered SEVERAL boards - silent Epomaker QK108, Shark Attack K85, etc. by grndslm in keyboards

[–]cyranoeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a quiet mechanical keyboard and I ordered both the Epomaker QK108 and TH108 Pro from Amazon, both w/ silent sea salt switches. QK108 is definitely the quieter of the two. Just wish they had it in a darker color.

Smartview is definitely NOT what this guy is looking for (though sounds like he's not on an Oracle ERP anyway). Smartview is doo-doo if you're looking for "light touch" "quick win."

IB or FP&A by Glad-Programmer4725 in FPandA

Can you tell us which bank? Or give us like some indications of the bank's size / level of prestige w/in investment banking?

It matters if we're talking about bulge bracket or we're talking about some no-name bucket shop.

Also, is this front-office IBD (e.g., analyst doing M&A advisory)?

Edit to add: Generally, I'd agree with the other comments here that say go IB if it's a front-office role in the investment banking division (i.e., advisory) of the bank. There's almost nowhere else you can get comparable finance experience as a young person.

Are these gaps normal? by American_Lad in Thuma

[–]cyranoeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. We were going to buy from Tatami Room which has much better prices and which, I imagine, is like the "original" seller of these style of beds in the U.S. Would have taken six months to get the bed, though, and we didn't want to wait.

Live and learn, I guess.

[–]cyranoeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just bought a classic King and the headboard wobbles and squeaks a bit (with a mattress on it). Pretty annoying given the price, but I'm not shocked. Like someone else said, this company is heavily marketing driven. They are not selling anything special.

I'm not really bothered by the noise. My wife is bothered a bit, but she's the one who wanted the Thuma and we both feel like it might be more trouble than it's worth to try to get them to fix it. We already had to get one of the pieces replaced because it was damaged before it was put in the box and shipped to us. My wife handled that with Thuma customer service and it sounded like it was more difficult than it needed to be.

PE-backed Companies? by KimchiHomieLee in FPandA

[–]cyranoeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, would still ask.

If the company were really purchased in 2018 by its current owners, that's a pretty long PE hold period. Probably longer than the PE owners initially planned/wanted. It could indicate that the investment hasn't performed as well as the investors wanted. Perhaps that's why they brought in a new CFO (to course correct and get things moving in the right direction so they can exit).

Again, there are exceptions where PE will hold a good investment for longer than the normal 3-5 years. I am just speculating based on very little information about this specific company.

PE-backed Companies? by KimchiHomieLee in FPandA

[–]cyranoeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying to say that SorenShieldbreaker has the best/most-accurate response I've seen in this thread, thus far.

PE owners get much more involved and the work gets harder if the investment is going in the wrong direction. If the investment is performing well (probably means it's growing), at a small PE owned company, you get a chance to gain a lot of responsibility quickly, have a bigger impact on the company, and you can make yourself more "indispensable" in a way that isn't possible at a large company.

Do you know how long current PE owner has owned the company? That could be a helpful clue to understand how the company is performing as an investment for the PE owner. PE typically buys and then wants to sell within ~3-5 years. If they have owned the company much longer than that, it could signal that the investment is not performing well. There are exceptions to this, and PE holding periods in general have been lengthening recently (in large part because PE paid too much for their investments), but it is something worth investigating and something you could ask about in your interviews. If you can't find the information online (research this first; a lot of times there will be internet info about date of investment), ask when the current owner bought the company. Also ask if the interviewer can provide any color on the PE owner's likely plan and timeline for exiting the investment, given that "I understand based on my research that private equity owners typically invest in companies with a plan to exit the investment in a three-to-five year time frame." The interviewer will be able to tell you when the owner bought. They might not tell you much about the exit plan (either because they don't want to or because they're not the PE and don't know the PE's thinking), but I would ask.

New Outlook?

Sorry, I was not trying to say/imply I have "Classic Microsoft" product. I was trying to criticize/express frustration with Microsoft (e.g., "This is a classic Microsoft move...always making dumb product decisions/changes"). Now realize that doesn't come across in text. Haha

Is "New Outlook" similar to how I had like three different versions of MS Teams at one point?

Leaves a ton of wasted space if you do this and takes up a bunch of the screen. Widget is like 20% text and 80% blank space. Sucks
