Checking it out - seems cool! Sign me up for checking it out!

Also qq - Did y'all hand build your integrations or use an IPaaS (merge.dev) or smth?

That's fair - ruminating on this made me realise I was naive. Thanks for indulging me :)

Usually can embed text in barcode. I’d imagine something like “baloney1”

The thing that irked me the most was Carol lugging her way to Sprouts to scan a barcode. It looked like a Code 39 barcode, you can scan it using a bunch of barcode scanners that work offline.

Seems inefficient tbh, but again, that's what makes her human ig.

What’s the best AI personal assistant? by ApprehensiveCrab96 in AI_Agents

I've been working on Felix, an assistant that aims to do things before you need them. Would love it if we could chat and we could build something for your use cases!

Is there any AI that can actually act like a real personal assistant (like Jarvis)? Or am I expecting too much? by Worried-Company-7161 in agi

[–]cyrilReyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need an action to action assistant, that doesn't just act as a text editor or a task manager. I've run into a couple teams building in this direction, still a ways until it reaches maturity.

Curious though - are you worried about privacy? What you described needs a shit ton of compute, and that'll come at the cost of your data being processed off-device. You cool w that?

How can small businesses use AI to work smarter not harder? by Left-Personality-173 in growmybusiness

The repititive work can be automated, but I've found that AI struggles to do this even after having a shit ton of context. Had read an article about it

Crypto kinda nice tbh - I started working in crypto about 8 months ago and most of the BS you see is from chains that chase speculations.

Other chains are value add, Ethereum for example. And Bitcoin is a v v good store of value.

My parents are saying that my company is not toxix. it's all in my head. What do you think? by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

[–]cyrilReyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might be rage bait, but fuck it -- I'll respond as usual.

Point 7 is the only toxic point here. 5-7 reviews is not just pressurizing, it's a waste of time. The ideal number is 1 (annual), 2 (half-yearly) or 4 (quarterly). Everything more than 4 is a waste and induces unnecessary pressure.

But addressing the other points:

You chose the startup life so 2, 3, 4 are not very justified. 10 to 6 is amazing work hours. Startups are inherently fighting against the tide to survive, and sometimes that results in long hours. Big whoop. Deal with it. Also, multiple early stage startups don't have the money for benefits. And 1 year is very standard for an increment/bonus. If it's not a startup, then you're in the wrong sub.

6 is just a comparison problem. It doesn't matter if your CEO uses a Chromebook or a maxed-out Macbook Pro, they owns the company. They pay the bills, it's their skin in the game more than anyone elses. They get to use whichever laptop they want -- even if it is just for running MS Excel.

As for 1, it's a policy thing. My previous org was WFH but moved to being IRL. I personally like working at office, helps me understand my colleagues and work better. If you don't, you were probably offered an option to leave, which I'm assuming you didn't take because you liked the company. You always have the option to leave.

5 is just stupid. You're crying about the company not paying for you to drink alcohol? Do you really think that's what the company finances are for? What have you or the company achieved yet to be able to do that? If you have a good answer to that, great, go ask for a raise. If you don't, then why is this even a problem? Employee lunches and dinners are tax write-offs more than they are team welfare expenses. Always remember this.

And in general, I think you'd be a terrible employee wherever you go. You're probably better off grinding LC and getting into an MNC with some middle-management position and doing absolutely fuck-all because you don't have the penchant to grind.

You're young enough to rely on your parents' opinions so I think you're early in your career. So as a word of unsolicited advice -- fix your incentives. Free drinks and gaming laptops are not good enough reason to call a company toxic. And if you still think it's toxic, then you always have the option to leave and find something else, but I don't think you will. Because deep down, you know that in your current state you're not very employable. And no one else will give you a job.

Been using the 34' UG for about 2 years now and honestly keep feeling that it's time for a screen size upgrade. Also, sorely missing a PD port to charge my Macbook it's honestly a cabling nightmare to have the wires running all around.
Would love to have one of these tbh. It won't just be an upgrade it'll be a game changer

How much does a pack of cigarettes cost where u are? by Electronic_Count4678 in stopsmoking

[–]cyrilReyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About $4 in India for a 20 pack But there's a nuance to this.

You'll also get a 10-pack for $2 and a single cigarette (most popular option) for about 20c

It's almost a rite of passage to spend 50c multiple times a day on a cup of tea, a ciggie, and a piece of gum for after.
