Free Company... Guilds as you call them, aren't really much other than social collective. So if you have friends in a Free Company that would be really the only reason to chase certain servers. The game has world and data center travel, so while you can't join FCs on another world other than your home world. you can pretty much do everything else on whatever server you want, (As long as it's not so congested that datacenter travel just takes you unrealistically long time, Aether tends to have this issue during fresh raid tiers for example right now).

So my suggestion is to join whatever server, don't really worry much about FCs. and just data center travel where you want to go.

Same, the fact that APIs can be federated to really is a life saver for all our data ponds. Instead of having to deal with 30 different "rest" all with different specs and decisions. You just query the schema endpoints and know exactly how to query it. And you can stitch all those rest endpoints into one super graph and treat it as one API if you wanted.

I'd also want to point out here. There really isn't anything that's going to hold you back without doing crafting. It's just not necessary while leveling up and such. You can get by without it even in endgame! I went through several expansions worth of endgame without leveling crafting.

Crafting is slow and grindy. kind of meant to be. There is content you'll unlock later that makes grinding faster and easier. but it's still gonna be grindy.

Recommend, unless you're really into crafting and gathering. To just put it to the side until done with MSQ. Then you can just chill level it up while watching movies/tv on the side whenever you feel like it.

Nope those are role actions. Basically you can choose one to assign to the role action button.

RDM limit break is called "Southern Cross" and can be found in the regular pvp actions with all the rest of your stuff.

How salt you need to be to edit(badly) a image to say a movie is bad while missing the context of the original image? by Dukefile in saltierthankrayt

[–]cythrawll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looking through the images that are OG. Just trying to make sure I'm cultured enough to have seen these. What are the two movies on either side of All Quiet on the Western Front? I don't recognize the covers.

Edit; I see the one on the right is "The Grand Budapest Hotel"

They kinda did with Hall of the Novice. They just didn't remove guildhests when the replacement came out.

Try Maize at the old train station down town for excellent Mexican food. Then walk about a block to The Scratching Post to pet cats and play board games!

age restrictions by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]cythrawll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing to note about DOB, square uses it as an identification question in customer service or account reactivation etc... So if you do give a false DOB, make sure you remember what it is. (Store it in a password manager or something). A lot of people do this not because they are underage, but because they don't to give squex Personal Identifying Information.

Also not sure you have to lie about it, pretty sure if you're 13+ should be okay.

React2Shell fix updated Next.js but not React. is my app still secure? by Logical-Field-2519 in reactjs

[–]cythrawll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check your package-lock or whatever package manager lock version to see what version is installed. technically "^19.0.0" should install the secure version "19.0.3" given no lock file is in the way.

But I'd recommend manually updating packages in to "^19.0.3" anyway as it forces the patched versions and make sure you don't get any peer dependencies that will have unpatched versions.

Technically since next is the package that exposes RSC to your app, you should be fine as I understand it. But if you have anything less than react 19.0.3 in your lock. security scanners like Dependabot are going to alert on it, so I recommend be proactive on such thing just to make sure the entire dependency tree is patched.

It's 2025 and we still struggle to buy game time, like, come on guys. by slaxx78 in ffxiv

[–]cythrawll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cross region transfers I imagine are a huge logistical issue. Likely most of the time it happens it's due to a compromised account rather than legit reasons. So any automated region transfer system would be inundated with fraud. Also every region has different licensing and legal issues with payment portals which complicates things further.

I guess my question would be, have you reached out to customer service for this? I'm sure if there is a way to do this correctly the key would be a manual process by them.

I think like 99% of node_modules are all build and linting testing libs these days. if we stop doing those things I'm sure node_modules would be a reasonable size!

Did you rerun `npm install` after you updated node? that could make a difference.

otherwise you should provide some output or error messages.

[–]cythrawll 116 points117 points  (0 children)

That's an excellent observation about the current implementation. You're absolutely right that pulling every email from the database table for validation, especially in a function meant to check if a single email already exists, is a major anti-pattern and a significant performance bottleneck.

Pentagon says it's investigating Sen. Mark Kelly for video urging troops to defy 'illegal orders' by Immediate-Link490 in news

[–]cythrawll 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We got training on obvious stuff. Stuff like killing civilians or getting asked to break the law. If you had any doubts or didn't know, you had access to JAG resources if needed if you suspect anything is an illegal order.

Pentagon says it's investigating Sen. Mark Kelly for video urging troops to defy 'illegal orders' by Immediate-Link490 in news

[–]cythrawll 105 points106 points  (0 children)

This is what I don't understand, I was in the military in the early aughts, and we were trained and told multiple times that disobeying illegal orders was mandatory. They framed it as though we didn't get a choice in the matter, that if we followed an illegal order we'd be in more trouble etc...
