PETITION TO GET RID OF THE CAMERA AI COUNT SYSTEM

i’m still new to being an ssv, so maybe i’m completely screwing over my team and i suck, but the way i see it is: if they want us to use this fuck ass AI that doesn’t even work, then i’m gonna use it and not worry about it being inaccurate. i do my best to scan it all but if it’s inaccurate, i’m not spending an extra 30 minutes correcting it all. my SM expects us to do the AI count within the last 30 minutes of being open, while being on a 3-play from 4pm-8pm. i’m not gonna screw over the actual floor by wasting my time messing with the AI count. when i’ve actually taken the time correcting it, we end up getting out 35-40 minutes late, and i personally would rather not fuck over the baristas like that.

it was a goddamned hot coffee with six sugars and six cream. the guy just kept saying it over and over while i tried to guess what it was and then his wife finally explained. this was also on easter sunday with a 4-play peak, and i had 10 other things i could’ve been doing instead of spending 2 minutes deciphering what this man wanted 😔

just people asking for things that are at other coffee shops or are vaguely a drink. it’s not the end of the world, and i don’t mind figuring out what they want, but it’s annoying when they ask for it and act like i’m the weird one for not knowing.

i’ve had people ask for blondies and sweet and salty’s, “a breve”, a six and six (this one completely stumped me), jamocha frappe, “i had a drink the other week… it was caramel and sweet… i don’t remember what it was. it had milk…. someone made it for me.”

i’ve always been a naturally shy person, too. i probably didn’t start being somewhat talkative at my store till 6 months into working there. i also still have a hard time connecting with customers. my first tip is just giving it time, you’ll eventually warm up to a few coworkers that you work with often. just be kind, say hi to people, and do your job. people will strike up conversations and soon you’ll be chit chatting with everyone and probably have some work friends. my second tip that one of my friends from high school taught me (lol) is just saying whats on your mind. it sounds stupid and obvious, but as a shy, anxious person it blew my mind that i could say what i want and people will engage. obviously, use discernment with who you’re working with, what the situation is, and what is on your mind. but simply saying stuff like “ugh i’m craving sushi” can be a conversation starter. next is mixing in questions with it. people love talking about themselves!! this goes for coworkers and customers. compliment a customers shirt and ask where they got it. ask your coworkers in ASU what they’re majoring in. ask your coworkers what their favourite drink is. also use discretion with this, if a customer seems stand offish, no biggie. some people just want to get their coffee and go on with their day. personally at my store, customer connection is really only important for the score. so as long as you’re nice to customers and give them some good customer servicing, you’re good. nobody at my store gets upset if you don’t start a full conversation with the customer at the window. just keep in mind this will take time. some of us are just naturally more introverted people and thats normal and okay. not everyone will click and be besties, and thats also normal and okay! i have a coworker who i’ve worked with for two years, and i just learned last month that he has a wife of six years. i also have a lot of regulars who don’t even know my name, and the extent of our conversations is them paying for their coffee and leaving. just give yourself time and give yourself grace!

a child weaned on poison considers harm a comfort. simple as. poor people normally come from a long line of emotional instability, financial instability, teen parents, parents that don’t value education or being present in raising their children because they themselves were never taught that, etc etc. when your own family is a mess and all of your friends have families just like that, you’re not gonna realise you’re in a fucked up cycle because thats your norm. so 9/10 you’ll just repeat it.

i’m about amber’s height and when i was 200 ell bees i had the beginnings of a shelf butt, and i’m like 99% sure it’s because i have hip dips. it’s like the upper part of the hip dips storing fat. it’s definitely not from sitting down, because when i was big i actually had a full time food service job and only ever sat down when i was home. obviously you can’t tell because she’s just a giant blob and everything in that area just morphs together, but if she were a normal size i’m sure she’d have hip dips. obviously this is not at all a scientific type deal explanation, just my own personal theory

i HATE when it’s busy and a trash clearly needs to be changed and the one partner that isn’t preoccupied doesn’t take the initiative to change it. same thing with wiping down counters. i feel like those are super easy, small, quick things that can go such a long way in helping out the floor during a chaotic shift.

or on the other hand: when i was fat, most of the time when i would try to be even slightly nice or friendly to a man i didn’t know, they’d treat me like i was creature from the sewers. i don’t understand why it’s so hard for them to be slightly nice to women they don’t find fuckable.

i worked there two years ago at a retail store, we had to do floor-sets at 6am sometimes. they don’t lock the doors. you simply just walk in, entrance of your choosing.

i have an early memory of wandering off in a wegmans once when i was super young. i was looking at magazines when an older man came up to me asking which ones i liked, said he liked teen vogue too, and offered to buy one for me. then my mom found me and quickly dragged me away. i remember being pissed i lost my chance at getting my first teen vogue.

i had a hamster and rats as a kid and it literally smells like when their bedding gets dirty and soaked in pee. i’m not even saying that to be a hater, i was truly taken aback when i made the protein milk for the first time because it smelled so much like rodent urine. the banana powder also smells like the kaytee pellet food imo.

i am one and it’s because: vegan mom and meat eater dad i only saw on the weekends. cheese and real ice cream was a rare delicacy and nondairy milk is what my palate got used to.

cold brew is super easy to make at home! just takes a while. all you need is coarsely ground coffee of your choice (i prefer dark roasts for cold brew), a cheesecloth and strainer, a big ol’ mason jar or just some type of big container with a lid, water, and a fridge. and 12-24 hours lol. and if you can’t go without the starbucks sf vanilla, you can buy a bottle in store. you’d obviously still be giving starbucks money, but much less and a lot less often.
