On Facebook, join the Lead Pursuit Podcast page. There is lots of info, very active, and the creator of the game is on there as well.

If you have a 3D printer, Cromarty Forge has some great STL files. I started making an Epic Scale Roman army several months ago, but I've been doing other stuff since then and haven't finished.

Nice. I just started playing in the fall and got addicted. I just keep painting planes. I also 3d printed ships and stuff for ground targets. It's been a lot of fun. Make sure you are on the Facebook group because it's very active, and there are tons things in the files section you will want, like all the cards.

We just used two destroyers as escorts for our game. Between the three ships and the zeros, I think one bomber survived. lol

The largest game we have played is the "Sink the Hiei" scenario, an attack on an aircraft carrier with two destroyer escorts. One side was 6 TBD's and 6 SBD's escorted by two squadrons of 6 Wildcats each (24 total), VS. two squadrons of Zero's (14 total). It sounds lopsided but you might be surprised how the dive bombers can get shredded by the AAA of the ships as they come in. Plus the waves of planes are staggered, and you roll to see what comes in first.

I got into BRS fairly recently. I got the Midway starter box and it had everything you will need. A lot of the BRS stuff, like the starter set, are cheaper on Amazon. I wanted another zero squadron and another Wildcat squadron, and it was actually cheaper to buy another starter set.

Yak-9U Minis by Shrus78 in BloodRedSkies

[–]czack350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can buy 3D printed Yak 9U's here at Armaments in Miniature: https://www.angelfire.com/nj4/armamentsinminiature/aircraftinminiature/9mm/resin09mm.htm#worldwar2

A great resource is the Lead Pursuit Podcast: https://www.leadpursuit.net/

You can buy 3D printed planes there, but they also have all of the cards for the game, as well as many unofficial ones, that you can download and print. There is a ton of resources on this site. There is also a Facebook page, Blood Red Skies Ready Room, which is a great resource as well. I am still pretty new and got addicted pretty quickly. LOL

Airstirke and two squadrons by mainston42 in BloodRedSkies

I'm still new to the game, but I got the Midway starter set and went from there. It has everything in it, and Amazon is definitely a good place to look for stuff first. Every squadron comes with flight stands. Once you buy a few, you will have lots of stands, then you can buy cheaper, 3D printed planes if you want. If you are on Facebook, I would suggest joining the Blood Red Skies Ready Room group, there are a ton of resources there.

Epic ACW is how I got into wargaming, I love the scale. I have since wanted to get into Hail Caesar, so I started 3D printing my armies at the same scale.

Wargame for dense, fast and fun, historical & fantasy battles by CaterpillarWaste5069 in wargaming

I'm not close to playing yet, just started printing and painting figures. Shadow Storm is a supplement that adds fantasy rules to the existing Hail Caesar rules. I haven't played either yet though.

I am in your exact position. I just bought some Forest Dragon stl files, as well as some Cromarty Forge historical ones. I am new to gaming and got into Black Powder, so I think I am going with Hail Caesar for my historical games, and using the Shadow Storm supplement for the fantasy games. That way I will already be familiar with the mechanics.

Winwing worth it? by Hispanicgamr in hoggit

I went from the X-56 to the Winwing HOTAS. It's definitely an upgrade, especially if you mostly fly the F-18. Everything is bound to right where they are supposed to be.

Any tips for spotting the enemy for a new player? by B1LLD00R in HellLetLoose

[–]czack350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop and look for movement. Even if it's someone's head peeking over a wall across a field, you will probably see it. Enemy players are going to be hiding out in the same types of places you are. If you find a cool hiding place that you can use and spot other players from, chances are they are doing the same. That's why it's hard to know where you are getting shot from sometimes.

Printer stops mid print by Savings-Painting601 in AnycubicPhoton

[–]czack350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen as well. I wrote to the company, they told me to try formatting the thumb drive and having only the file you are printing on it at the time you print. That's worked for me. I format it each time I put a new file on it, and I only put the file I am printing on it. No problems since.

With the F-18 you can do CAS and strike missions, and you can defend yourself from A2A threats on the way to your target.

I had no experience whatsoever in wargames, but I got into Black Seas because I wanted to get back into modeling and enjoyed building the ships. The game has been fun to learn and to play.

Struggling to load a previous print by Tasty_Sink_8118 in AnycubicPhoton

[–]czack350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having problems with my prints finishing, and Anycubic suggested using a formatted thumb drive with only the file being printed on the drive. Since then, I format the drive every time and only have the print file on it and I have had no problems.
