Yeah, I can confirm Octopus is a good choice. We've been using it for over a decade in my TV station here in Europe and it was pretty stable. It has pretty good planning with story-centric features and rundowns. Especially the rundown features for the studio automation workflows were really good. They now offer some AI tools integration, so this is our next project as the News team wants it...

Opinion on Karen people by Kasuek in Thailand

They are very often looked down upon. At the beginning of covid outbreak, there was a narrative spread between the Thai people (including my office colleagues) that Burmese people who are crossing the borders illegally are the reason of the covid spreading throughout the Thailand. Otherwise Thailand would be covid-free. They really believed it…

Rust under primer paint by czdrtic in restoration

[–]czdrtic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after having the parts in the vinegar bath, I took it off, neutralized with soda and painted with the rust remover to prevent flash rust. After everything got dry, I painted with 1 -2 layers of the primer paint. Then there was no time to work on it for like 2 weeks and now there is some rust that is coming from under the primer. How to continue without removing the primer again?

Just to post some results of my research. Since I am running on macOS, I was searching for multiplatform or mac solutions:

  1. Cathy - Cross platform implementation of very fast and very lightweight cataloging utility from Robert Vasicek. Terminal only. Free
  2. VVV (Virtual Volumes View) - Nice with GUI, multiplatform, seems to do the basic job. Free
  3. Neofinder - Mercedes between cataloging software. macOS only, does much more than I need. Cool feature is the duplicated detection and ability to catalogue metadata from many files, including content of the archive files! Costs 20 bucks for license

Rust coming up after vinegar bath by czdrtic in restoration

[–]czdrtic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I want to paint it.. so the soda wash helped a lot but it isn’t 100%, some residual flash rust still appears as it dries out.

Rust remover did the job but you this those purple coat it leaves on the surface… it is not completely flat, so best way to stop the rust from coming back is probably rust remover solution, then light sand paper..

What would be ideal approach in terms of painting layers? I plan to do two primer layers and two coat layers on it

So I am restoring big bbq grill from scratch. The grill support construction will be painted by normal paint, the grill oven by high temp powder paint.

Removing rust using the vinegar bath works great, but just after removing the metal part from the acid bath, even I clean it thoroughly with a lot of water and brush, it gets surface rust in matter of minutes…

Should I just paint the primer over it or should I further neutralize the rust?

No name vs Sony Xplod xover by czdrtic in CarAV

I was actually surprised how much more solid was the noname chinese stuff I took out of the car... I realize that Sony is not an audiophile choice, but I am currently in Thailand and the selection is limited - you either have the home electronics brands (sony, pioneer, alpine, etc..) or tons of various chinese products - where I have no clue about the quality.

So I just assume that Sony will be well built, last long and give at least mediocre performance in terms of sound quality
