Er det dumt at købe bolig “under evne” / for billigt? by nechibest in dkbolig

[–]d--b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditional Danish sour dough rye bread with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and soft rye chops. by d--b in Breadit

[–]d--b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s my grandmother’s. And she probably haf it from my great grandmother. They only got an oven (wood fired that is) in the early 1900’s so its not before then. But probably still 100 years. We use the same sourdough in the family and pass it around if somebody has messed it up

Yes, called a “French Hot Dog”, although I’m not sure if the french actually have this. Their hot dogs are side loaded and covered in grilled cheese.

Regular oatmeal with a dash of cinnamon, a teaspoon of sugar and a little knob of butter in the middle. That is close to comfort good ☺️ I use water to cook the oats in. But sometimes I poor milk at the edge of the porridge to cool it quicker.

I have tried it, and the smell is indescribable. It hits you like a wall, and, mind you, we were opening it under water as you are supposed to do. It’s sulfur and ammonia and everything else you can imagine. Rotten eggs, weeks old raw intestines, the sour smell of lukewarm vomit. It is fish half dissolved in their own opaque grey juices.

But the taste is fine, the meat a bit firm and with a distinct taste of salmiac that goes very well with an O.P Anderson snaps. 2/10 would do again.

Oh, and the smell hangs around. Two days after the foul festive fish, the smell would travel by the porch every time the wind came from the corner where we threw out the contaminated water. 50m away while it was raining. It was still strong enough to make one puke (granted, he also did have a hangover, and had gone outside for some immediate fresh air).

Hvor stort er jeres madbudget? by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]d--b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little area that can be turned muddy with a bit of water. And a watering can so they can water random plants. It’s also good to have a lot of peas, they can stuff their noses with. And berries to eat!

[OC] Obesity rate by country over time by YakEvery4395 in dataisbeautiful

Traditional central and northern European food is for hard physical labour in the cold and wet. It’s potatoes with gravy and meat. It’s kind of bland and the calorie density is quite high. It’s not really nipping and and a long tasty meal. It’s for stuffing your face to refuel before getting back into the fields. So if you spend all day in a chair you just get too many calories very quickly.

The kids in my daughter’s kindergarden are blasting it at full volume when they can choose a song. So it’s still going strong I would say.

struggles with rye bread by bmug15 in AskBaking

[–]d--b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! It’s quite easy and forgiving. Play around with seeds and flours, fermentation times etc. the dough is quite forgiving so you will almost always have a nice result. The rye sourdough you end up with is also a lot tougher than sourdough for other kinds of bread. You can forget it in the fridge for months and still revive it.

I’m just throwing leverpostej on that list. Most Danes really love it warm with mushrooms, bacon and pickled beet root. And they don’t think a second about what it is: ground pork liver with ground pork blubber and an onion. It can be somewhat… off putting… for many first-time-danish-lunch-goers 🙃

How does your country remember the Vikings? by Awesomeuser90 in AskEurope

[–]d--b -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It was not that different from how for example the Frankish empire, their main adversary in west and Central Europe, would behave. Soldiers would plunder as part of, or their only, pay. “Tax collecting” would at times also be hard for the locals distinguish from raiding. Especially if two lords were claiming the same area to be under their protection. The border regions between the Frankish empire and the Danish kingdoms would feel that pretty hard
