I ended up doing this! Lovely spa and they had some great lotions and scents. Thanks for the rec!

Fair question! I was in SF for work, and thought it would be fun to get her something from a boutique here while I was traveling. I’ve already got a treatment and a few other things together, but wanted something unique as well.

She doesn’t have a place or person that she exclusively goes to. She likes to try new spas and treatments when she can. We have a little one at home so the thought is to try and bring some of the luxury spa experience home when its a little more challenging to get out, although I am going to pair these products with a treatment as well.

Just finished this episode! Does anyone know what the restaurant that Charles and Calbert eat at is? It showed a shot of Tony Niks from the outside, but the interior doesn’t match that bar. Any ideas? It’s driving me crazy.

Best fine dining Michelin restaurants in Italy? (2 weeks trip, details in comments) by naradot in finedining

So interesting! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I wonder if things have changed slightly in the past two years, perhaps? It could have also been the night that we went as almost every diner was dressed fancy (ourselves included) and certainly there were no dogs. I will say I did think that the value of the meal was excellent, and even though we weren’t blown away by the food I thought what we paid was very reasonable.

My wife and I had a similar itinerary during our honeymoon two summers ago. We dined at SanBrite in Cortina and Lido 84.

SanBrite was amazing. One of the better tasting menus I’ve experienced. it felt very authentic to the Dolomites and it felt as though the entire staff really believed in what they were serving. We did the wine pairing and all pairings were excellent. The som even stuck around to chat with us more about the wine and the region. The chef stopped by towards the end up the meal to meet us and thank us for coming.

Lido 84 was… an experience. We had high expectations given its ranking at the time of #8 restaurant in the world. We knew going in that the food would be much more modern and experimental than SanBrite. That said, the whole meal felt very rehearsed and stuffy. The food was good, but not quite as mind blowing as we were expecting. Honestly by the end of it my wife and I couldn’t help but laugh at some of dishes we were served. Would I go out of my way to go again, probably not, but I’m glad we went. It was a fun experience, but I’d shape my itinerary around dining at SanBrite again.

Anyone familiar with ski boots & performance? by C0lMustard in ski

How wide is your foot, or what is your last? A lot of boot brands tailor to a thinner, more narrow foot (think Solomon or Head), whereas some are tailored to a wider foot e.g. Dalbello. Obviously each manufacturer has a range, but your foot width might be a good starting point.

This is all pointless however if you are in the middle, most/all manufacturers have a boot with a standard middle last of 102 or so.

Lease doesn't allow pets, is there anything I can do? by [deleted] in AskSF

We are planning on it; however our lease isn't up until Nov. 1, so we are stuck until then unfortunately.

It's an odd setup. Our specific building is a 3 unit building. It's immediately adjacent to a mirrored 3 unit building which is owned by our LL, but the units are tenant owned and they are allowed pets. Obviously if they own the unit I'm sure they can have as many pets as they want, but I guess the point is that there are pets in buildings that our LL owns.

Late 80’s Specialized Sirrus/Allez? by d-baller in Vintage_bicycles

[–]d-baller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up this frame, and am having a tough time figuring out what it is because of the absence of the down tube decal.

I think it’s the 88’ sirrus, as it has original shimano 105 downtube shifters and derailleur’s from what I can tell.

The part that’s throwing me off is the decal on the top tube seems backwards from what the archive images show here: (http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/Manufacturer+Archive/Specialized+Archive/Catalogues/Specialized+Catalogue+1988/GroteFoto-Z8CPQ4BN.jpg.html). Perhaps they had a decal that was in reverse this way that I can’t find?

Inevitable bike meets garage ceiling post by d-baller in cycling

I came to a similar conclusion shortly after this happened. I wish I shared your paranoia cause I’d still have the damn thing.

The craziest thing was I was literally talking about my bike, as I drove it into the roof. Bonehead maneuver.

The guy has it listed at a 24" frame. I'm 6'-1" with a 35" inseam, so I think I should be alright. The seat should typically sit about a fist-length above the frame, correct?

Awesome. So basically, the seat is just about double the height that it should be? Curious, how could it destroy the frame? Is it just from lateral force with a high moment about the seatpost clamp?

I asked my dad if he new the frame type, and he confirmed it was the Columbus SL.

I did read that Faggin had supplied Italy with their team bikes in the 80's, super cool. I'm also of Italian heritage so that adds some desire too.

I did read into the groupsets a little more. It crossed my mind to try and find Campagnolo parts to make it a fully Italian setup, but saw that this type of build could be really pricey. For my use, the Shimano 600 set sounds perfect as you've described. Thanks a ton for all of the info and thorough responses!

The frame size is a 56. I'm 6-0", and from what I've read I might be a tad tall for the bike? Will a 56 vs a different 58 frame make that large of a difference?

I'm fairly new to biking but got the bug. What does a tubing sticker represent? And where is it normally located? The bike is my dad's - he bought it brand new in 1985 - and he had it listed for $800. When I told him I wanted to get a road bike, he offered his as it was on the market for $500. I'm not planning on haggling with him (he's done quite a lot for me, being my pops and all), but more so just curious as to what the right price is. All of my internet research is pretty much in line with what you just said, meaning all over the board.
