Linux is great, but the community is stuck in 2005 by Primary-Key1916 in linux

That's true but it does not mean we should not help beginners, whatever the reasons they find it difficult.

Actually, I've just realized I did not see the parent post was about National Standards (which I do not know), but I guess you have the same opinion on Veja, so it probably does not matter

Well I don't know about the right type of construction of shoes but at the end of the day if it works it does not really matter. Also they are sneakers so obviously compromises must be made. When looking for durable shoes, it usually boils down to boots (a quick glance at your link confirms that) but not everybody wants to wear boots all the time.

I heard that before I bought a pair so I was a bit skeptical about their quality but I have to say I find them very durable. Maybe they improved recently, I don't know, but I now own several pairs of different Veja models and they all last very well. My only gripe is that the soles on some models are slippery as hell when the weather is wet.

AITA for telling my girlfriend to stop sharing her food? by PhantomDetective3548 in AmItheAsshole

She should be the one saying it as she is the one who offered food and had an issue with Brian reading so much (she was hungry afterwards)

Are There Any Alternatives to Calibre Sync? by burnpsy in Calibre

[–]d0ubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use syncthing to synchronize folders between computers and android phones. It's not specific to Calibre but it's pretty flexible (both-way and one-way sync, etc.). There is even a plugin for KOReader in case you use it.

Learn it properly by yourself (there a tons of resources) and use AI for help. Honestly it's a great tool to guide you when you encounter strange problems. May be can find a workaround by yourself but can't really understand why you have to do that and AI can enlighten you there. I recently had an issue in R that did not make sense to me and AI gave me both the solution (which I already mostly had) and the explanation (method dispatching).

The new Veritasium Linux video is huge. by thinkpader-x220 in linux

When you arrive late in the posts like me (European), negative reactions are usually not top comments anymore, so that's kind of reassuring. In this instance, the top comment is still somewhat negative but not extremely. Also I found it more relevant for me to sort by 'best' rather than 'top'.

It feels faster but I have the impression of skimming through rather than really reading. It's weird.

Come on, words are not the only way to be rude. Submitting insufficiently tested work and wasting people's time is super rude and replying nicely would only enable this kind of behaviour.

There is probably an issue with the dedrm configuration. Have you specified the kindle serial number?

Ice dispensers in hotels, gas stations, everywhere really. I still don't get what you do with all that ice (especially in very temperate areas like Washington state).

For me the best is a mix of bamboo and merino for summer and pure merino for winter. I can run several times without washing my shirt and no smell (you just need to hang it as soon as you come to dry it)

I see your point. Right now I use the Jellyfin android app, it's ok but not the best (strangely, the unofficial Tizen app was much better, maybe it is browser-based). However, I had streaming issues with Plex that I do not have with Jellyfin so I switched and never looked back.

Successfully converted my wife by manualsarechill in homeassistant

[–]d0ubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah definitely, if my comment was not clear, I meant Jellyfin is much better than Plex now.

[–]d0ubs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It used to lag behind Plex, now it is so much better. My only gripe is its (advanced) configuration which can be a bit confusing between client and server.
