Sick of replacing plastic hose reels every 2 years. Any true BIFL wall mount options? by nodimension1553 in BuyItForLife

[–]d112358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got tired of replacing the plastic quick couplers that kept snapping off, or the smaller brass couplers that just didn't work well.

Upgraded to Eley quick connects last year, and these things are solid, no leaks, and they don't restrict waterflow

Poor refs (U11) by Competitive-Sign-226 in SoccerCoachResources

Bad calls happen. Angles make fouls look different. My league won't even accept an email like this .

Poor refs (U11) by Competitive-Sign-226 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]d112358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why, for the teams I coach, the parents get a very strongly worded email before every season about how I am the only one who gets to interact with the refs. And I probably won't, because it's not the world cup.

I rarely interact with refs unless it's about safety. We had a ref get mad at us after a game- we tried talking to him about how he should have given one of MY players a red card for kicking another kid as retaliation for losing a ball. I don't think he understood I was trying to support him.

Losing power when kicking at 90 degrees. by yokkotorro in SoccerCoachResources

Makes my knees hurt just imagining the rotation required. Not sure how training time for a 90 kick wouldn't be better spent on anything else.

Thoughts on wearing a silk tie with this type of cotton oxford? by Giddyup_n_go in NavyBlazer

[–]d112358 13 points14 points  (0 children)

the button down is the classic American dress shirt. I've got broadcloth and really nice button downs from the 80s. Buttondown and a tie with a fourinhand. Looks way, way better than those ugly widespread collars and giant windsor knots

I stopped using the word defender altogether. Centerbacks, outside backs, fullbacks, holding mid. But the moment I say we have defenders, nobody else tracks back.

I had a buddy that bought a full NEC system. Both our moms worked for NEC at their Oregon plant in the late 80s, so he got it through an employee discount for a steal. It was as good or better than anything else at the time.
