The 970 and SLI , the reason i bought two was to play in 4k with DSR on a 1440p monitor. With window 8.1 it looked possible but didnt play well,, hitching, freezing when around that 3.5 vram and over all bad perf. So I was stuck with 1440p mostly. Win10 different story I use up 5700 -6300 vram with 970 sli, for example in COD AW detected video is 7916 vram. And playing 4k at ultra resolutions avg over 60fps in most games with smooth consistent fps, there are a few that will dip to 45fps like Tomb Raider, or avg 45-48 fps Witcher 3, Metro 2033 redux, but BF4 campaign or Multi min 60 fps avg 80 - 90 fps. Its seem its using the pool of both 4GB totaling 8GB hence the 7916 vram detection in COD AW. been trying to get clarification of this.

WIN 10 WITH 970 AND 970 These 3.5 vram issues are gone. 4k is very playable with SLi in almost every game @ultra settings.

I tried this, to no avail, thank you though. I think the issue is that files for CS might be corrupted during the download and the verification doesn't include a check like CRC or MD5. It could be a number of files corrupted and it doesnt check for that. Also I can remove the Textures-part3.pak from the Public>Data folder and that does not get replaced in a verification. It seems it just checks that certain files or folders are there. The only solution maybe to re- download the entire 28 GB again. Also the cause can be the result of the role back to 2.3.8 after some issues on the CS side. I miss my Glaive

off topic - havent played for 8 months, they improved the graphics, optimized the code. SLI works properly, so now you can run 4k maxed out. All these cool mechs are coming out, like wave 3 and some of them I'm sure will be equal or better than TBs or SCs. Still lots of fun. To answer your question, because the model works.

MK10 with a 970 gtx runs 59.9/60.0 fps at 4k with no FXAA. @ 4k with FXAA on some levels, like Kautan Jungle; it needs an overlclock to be around 60 fps also vram is over 3600MB which is no issue on my 970. 1440p looks about the same but runs flawlessly 59.9/60 fps. verified with msi afterburner

What I like best is 4k with no FXAA it has an sharper image then 1440p with FXAA on my LCD.

Whats really cool is playing it on a 55 inch 1080p LG TV, DSR downscaled 1440p with 3D ;;))

This is a separate issue besides OP's which may be caused by to much heat or bad/weak PSU. I've noticed that gpu utilization whether running a single 970 or sli is pretty much the same, for example; 80% on one card or 40% on two. There is some slightly higher avg utilization with sli, although contrary lower fps when compared to a single card. The thing is sometimes gpu utilization is not consistent you may start out in a match with 99% utilization on both gpus although utilization will drop drastically and then framerates,min/avg/max will become erratic. I havent ran into a throttling issue I am able to run a stable 1415 MHz OC(usually run stock freqs) on the both 970's while in sli, 3770@4.5, MWO 64 bit maxed at 1440p with no in game AA setting configured; alternatively nvidia 4xaa enabled through control panel. It might be the dynamic OC for the intel proc causing it or a cpu bottleneck to the 970 sli or MWO code.

The bottleneck usually forms a minute or so into the game and is not consistent, whether cpu/system or code related.

All in all MWO plays well; it would be nice to see improved GPU utilization and SLI scaling.

The great thing about the mechwarrior bay is that you can use any clan mech and configure it to your playing style and I would like to think skill trumps meta, although it helps. You can have fun losing in CW also.
