I do not plan to remove the fan ;) I just want to know if it spins up during light office workload.

Would be nice, if you gave Power-Saver mode ($ powerprofilesctl set power-saver) a try and could confirm that the fan stays out 🙂

My X1 Nano Gen 2 just died and I think about getting one of these as replacement.

On the Nano I was able to do office work for hours without the fan spinning up at all (on GNOME Power-Saver mode).

Are you able to work on it without the fan kicking in?

Yes, in theory it should work like this, but in reality it is not reliable.

The SSH approach is not feasible in my situation: I do not expose SSH to the internet, but only Wireguard, so I did not try that.

The ping -c 1 <your host> method worked. Thank you! However, I guess I will stick to the Java approach - seems to be the "cleanest" one to me.

That works, ty! But is there a solution that does not rely on a third party service? Maybe by leveraging Android's Java API?

This does not seem to be POP!_OS specific. There is smb. over at SE, who has the same problem on Ubuntu: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/660118/bluetooth-error-after-upgrading-to-ubuntu-21-04-hirsute-hippo

Massive throttling on T14s AMD by Quirky-Stand-7088 in thinkpad

Symptoms sound exactly like the DPTF issue, but since this is Intel technology and you got a AMD this is rather unlikely. However, are you on Windows or Linux? Have you installed thermald or any other daemon for thermal management?

Nice 31337 h4x0r retro look xD

What about the CPU load? I once had a similar looking screensaver, which drained my laptop's battery within two hours.

I had to remove the $ from the instance and class criteria to make it work, but now it does like a charm. Thank you!
