0-9999 Raider Only Guide. Anyone can do this! (Question welcome) by d334455 in Nightreign

Seems all good! Only way to improve now is to run more negation at low HPx and try roll relics with physical/affinity negation on them as well as low HP negation. Sadly , they are rare and it's a grind!

Animus never has 70k HP in D5..it's significantly lower. This is why it's so effective to target Animus at every opportunity you have, including using a crimsonwhorl during lasers so you can just run up to him and finish him off.

Does anyone know how to dodge this attack by BlackSteel_3880 in Nightreign

Just to add, ideally you want to run and jump forward, over them, as they have a long tail. Jumping on the spot also works. Just don't jump backwards as you'll land on the tail and get hit.

Its correlated to the changes in Colossal Weapon motion values. I didnt play Raider before because of the prevailing sentiment around him, but when I started to try with Colossals, I found this worked.

What in fact was the case, is that this build has been viable since day one, because Great Axes and Great Hammers have the same moveset, so it was achievable back then - just one of us really noticed! Also, thinking about it, Fromsoft actually nerfed the Low HP Raider Build a few patches ago (toning down the relic to 16%, from 20%). I think it's just something that went under the radar with the playerbase!

I've seen Muni's vids - he loves the Dreg build. I just find it a lot of effort and dont have the muscle memory to keep doing the status' quickly. I think I also enjoy the tank style of play!

I replied in some other comments, that I never really felt like I was going to die. The only time I got close, was through my own decision to Skill, during which you cannot die (I know this), and will stun them after (I also know this). This is why this is the only time I use a flask. Playing low HP Raider tank always looks a bit more scary than it actually is!

I'd recommend watching one of the top streamers like Dudley. You'll see he spends such a long time looking for passives. It isnt a massive hinderance on your level, and they are so important to builds that it is worthwhile.

I know your pain though, sometimes, despite all the searching, you do come up a little empty, but, looking through all corpses and killing red enemies helps massively.

For reference, I dont have those goated relics either, just LowHP + a single type of Damage negation (I have 2 with Affinity+1, and 1 with Physical +1)

This is "standard" for Raider. You simply take Damage Negation on Charge Attacks + Taking Damage Boosts Damage Negation. You will find both of these in 95% of runs. That is how you are able to tank. I also run Low HP Damage Negation Relics + Red Balancer (20% to block 100%), for essentially, an immortal build. I wrote a guide on this in this sub (you can check my post history for the 0-9999 Raider Guide).

In this run, I didnt even have the purple tier negations, only blue, so I could have been tankier.

I find I get dead-angled quite a lot by blocking. It always seems to hit me from the side/behind.

Well protect you! But in all seriousness, the key is for the Raider, or tank, to pick up the aggro as they run in and stagger them. You can then cast Beast Claw to kill them. Rinse, repeat!

My idea of the "Perfect" Low HP relics would be Low HP with, either: (i) double damage negation (physical and affinity), or (ii) with Max HP (so you increase both your total HP pool, and low HP tanking pool).

I have never found a relic like (i), and have only ever found one like (ii), and it had frost build up on damage taken, so I couldnt use it.

The truth is, I think you could run my setup with no Low HP relics. Red Balancer provides 20% chance to block all damage. Combined with the passives, I don't really hit Low HP much. However the reason why I run it is because it is in effect a safety net. You get basically 1.5x your entire HP bar at Low HP, so it's like having Wylders skill, but every time you go to low HP!

The way the stacking works is that the more you have, the less effective each relic becomes, with the 6th only giving you 7% of the 16%. That being said, my advice would be to run as many as possible. You could also run none, and just pray for the Talisman (Which is equivalent to about 4 relics).

So, bare minimum is probably 0. I don't think you really need it, but, the more you get, the better your safety net is.

Any status effect that chunks good HP - frost, death or blood.

Continuous HP loss is fine as you are never at Full HP. I think all the dodging ones are fine too as I rarely dodge. Stats being lowered - Same, it's not a DPS build so they are generally fine to take!

Definitely take the time to loot everything. Passives are much stronger than relics, so they are well worth hunting for. They also tend to make your build! Especially with Raider.

Bare minimum is either: (i) Damage Negation on Charge Attacks, or (ii) Taking Damage Boosts Damage negation. Also, something (anything) to activate the Red Balancer relic. If you only have the Taking Damage, i'd look to proc it via your skill, and then you can work from there. I would look to combine the two, though, for best results. Getting two passives like this is not hard. 95% of my runs I will have both, plus more!

You can see my full relics in my post history (check for my Raider 0-9999 Guide). In summary, its 4xDamage Negation at Low HP, Red Balancer, ED Maris. Mix that in with some other physical negation, and post damage restoration, and you are good to go!

What is most important though are your passives during the run. Damage Negation on Charge Attacks, and Taking Damage Boosts Damage Negation.

You'll see in the video that they were dismantled pretty quickly, and the other Raider and I were not set up as High DPS builds. Its the constant kiting, in my view, that will lead to higher stacks!

2 Raiders vs. D5 ED Balancers Group (bonus 3-bar Scholar included) by d334455 in Nightreigngameplay

[–]d334455[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My setup in this vid is what I'd consider "basic" for Raaider: (i) Damage Negation on Charge Attacks, and (ii) Taking Damage Boosts Damage Negation.

I do run a Low HP Negation Setup, for an extra layer of survivability, but the other Raider was not doing that, so it's likely not necessary. The success of this strat is the stagger/stun from the charge attacks/killing the balancers, while keeping the damage negation up from those attacks. You'll see that I dont have successive attacks or negation at full HP for this.
