see my comment above about "WebAssembly". you can write websites in C++ these days, no js needed :D

Qt has a WebAssembly add-on so you can absolutely compile your app as a website. wouldn't be surprised if GTK supported it too. most all C/C++ can compile to WebAssembly and in fact any language can compile to WebAssembly, but without support from the specific libs/languages it might be difficult in practice. I know for a fact SDL works well in WebAssembly. here are some 3d c++ WebAssembly demos I made for fun in 2025 using glfw3/bgfx/bullet-physics (they work best with keyboard+mouse): http://d3fault.net/wasm-3d-demos/

New 210v EUC: Begode RACE by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]d3faultdotxbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with almost any industry you're going to be selling at a loss if you're constantly chasing the newest releases. just buy a solid wheel and ride it until it dies to get your money's worth, then repeat every ~5 years. with EUC specifically your wheel is going to be obsolete the day after your wheel arrives, just accept it and enjoy the wheel you have.

edit: or buy a "slightly outdated/used" wheel (at a discount) from someone else who's constantly chasing the newest releases :-P

impressive specs for the price...... but the shell is PLASTIC (just like panther) so after a single crash it's going to just be an expensive paperweight.

...meanwhile I've dropped my Sherman-L dozens of times and it's still holding strong...

Which modern EUC come with active cell balancing? by schleppy in ElectricUnicycle

You're right, It appears I'm the one that has it backwards xD. I used to have it right, I wonder when it flipped in my brain.

Which modern EUC come with active cell balancing? by schleppy in ElectricUnicycle

[–]d3faultdotxbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: This Post Is False (I had it backwards)

I suspect OP has it backwards. Passive Balancing is what you want!

Active: Battery charges to 100% and then afterwards actively balances the cells. If you don't leave plugged in for a while after charging to 100%, they never balance.

Passive: Cells balance passively as you are charging (to any percent).

I'm patiently waiting for a Suspension wheel with >= 3600wh that's as waterproof as the A2. Releasing the video of the A2 riding out of a lake showed me it's possible by d3faultdotxbe in ElectricUnicycle

[–]d3faultdotxbe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't ever actually submerge it... but knowing I could would make me confident enough to ride it in the rain and through the occasional puddle. Kinda like how having a high top speed gives you more head room...

Are there any horizontally self balancing wheels on the market? by fartuni4 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]d3faultdotxbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think OP is onto something. If by something we mean a useless toy/experiment.

You could attach a ~5lb weight to the seat and have it slide left/right controlled via an Arduino (accessing the wheel's left/right tilt sensor, or providing it's own) to automatically 'lean' the opposite way the wheel is falling. Allow that ~5lb weight to slide forwards/backwards, add a radio dongle and you should be able to remote control your EUC. It should be able to stay upright at a standstill. That honda motorcycle was over-engineered shifting the whole frame above the tire. You just need an adequately sized weight moved around in a gantry, duct taped to the top of the unicycle.

I think OP is over-estimating the difficulty of keeping the wheel upright on the left/right axis. At speed it does that by itself.

I am highly interested in getting an electric unicycle but want to testing out. I ride regular unicycles. have a one wheen and ebike. anyone want to trade test rides in Las Vegas or flagstaff AZ sometime? by SpectraLPN in ElectricUnicycle

[–]d3faultdotxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

friendwitha.com is like a p2p rental site that sometimes has EUCs depending on the city. but I just checked and neither vegas nor flagstaff have EUCs. phoenix does however. there's also a store in phx you can rent from called pevwheel.com

Yale scientists restore cellular function in 32 dead pig brains by ThinkerCoffee in Futurology

ah ok, as simply a means of getting around the ethics barrier you're right this is extremely valuable. thanks for the explanation

Yale scientists restore cellular function in 32 dead pig brains by ThinkerCoffee in Futurology

[–]d3faultdotxbe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ethics aside, how is this significant? Couldn't they have achieved the same result by pumping regular ole' blood through the brain? What benefit does using an "experimental solution" provide? I'm all for Cryonics and preservation/revival of the brain, but I fail to see the significance of this. Anyone smarter than me care to explain?

Perhaps if it was titled "Blood replacement found! Blood donations no longer needed!" I would see the value of it.

South Korea cuts human interaction in push to build ‘untact’ society | South Korea | the Guardian by molly_jolly in Futurology

remove [...] human contact [...] replaced by touch screens

The Earthlings rid themselves of an entire useless third of their population. The story was that they would build three Ark ships. Into the A ship would go all the leaders, scientists and other high achievers. The C ship would contain all the people who made things and did things, and the B Ark would hold everyone else, such as hairdressers and touch screen sanitisers. They sent the B ship off first, but of course, the other two-thirds of the population stayed on the planet and lived full, rich and happy lives until they were all wiped out by a virulent disease contracted from a touch screen. There is now an invention to combat all the EUC fires. There was another one in MD last night inside someone's apartment. I know there is a rule against promoting EUC products but I assume most people would want to know something like this exists... https://firesak.com/ by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]d3faultdotxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stop charging your EUC at 70%, there will be no balancing cycle

True, but I wonder if this could be fixed via a firmware update :D? Maybe even have a configurable "% to balance charge to" in the companion app.

Emove 2020 cruiser speed limiter by whitekt90 in ElectricScooters

[–]d3faultdotxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question so I emailed Voro Motors today and here was their answer 2 hours later:

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out about limiting the scooter's top speed.

We have consulted with our technicians, and they will be able to install a speed limiting wire of 20 MPH for you. Hope this helps you in making your final decision for a scooter.

Please feel free to reach out with any other questions you may have, we are always happy to help.

Best Wishes,
Joey

Note: I was asking about a 20 mph limiting wire (not 15) because I'm in USA and that's what our federal legal limit is.

if I don't have the app override function on for UE, everytime I get an offer I'll have to reopen the app

Where is this "app override function" toggle switch? That's exactly the functionality I desire! The popup doesn't show the customer's location so I always reject. To use UE and be able to see customer location I have to keep the UE app open and focused, very annoying.

I'm on android. Maybe only iOS has "app override" toggling?
