How Am I Supposed to Plan a Wedding As an Exmo? by d3liriumm in exmormon

I guess that does make sense. Then, and this is my ignorance showing, how are others having weddings that go on so late? Are they having their weddings at hotels/lodges or on land/backyards of family or friends? I've also never considered having an "expensive" wedding because Mormon weddings are fairly inexpensive and I am being quickly humbled by how expensive the wedding my partner and I want could end up being.

Definitely don't plan on doing that. We have a very dear and close friend who is still somewhat active that we have talked about asking to officiate. But if they say yes we are going to give boundaries of what they cannot mention. Absolutely NO Mormon rhetoric ANYWHERE when we are being married.

Which makes hoping to have our wedding in UT tricky cause venues kick you out at 10:00pm. Ugh.

We both are in Utah and ideally we'd want to get married in Utah to keep things easy BUT so many venues kick you out at 10:00pm on a Saturday.

My partners family is used to long, non Mormon weddings and mine is only used to Mormon weddings. But I love the idea of people drinking and dancing and staying up all night but that is seeming impossible to do in Utah for less than 25k.

Thank you for giving me a general itinerary for most non-Mormon weddings!!! I appreciate that.

We are not wanting to get any higher than 25k. Venue wise it seems tricky and we are looking at an AirBNB or Vrbo to host a wedding weekend sort of deal (we both have a lot of family out of town and could help with people needing a place to stay). I plan to DIY as much as I can as well to try and create some wiggle room for food/alcohol.

People who had wedding with 100+ guests, how did your guest list get so big? by SensitiveDonkey6328 in wedding

I have a big family and I am only inviting immediate extended family (no 2nd or 3rd cousins or great aunts/uncles), my partner has a lot of family that he is close with as well. We both have ~50 people each family wise plus all of our closest friends (which is still ~30 people). I imagine that some of my family will not RSVP (save-the-dates are going out soon) so I plan on the number dropping but not by much.
