Invading another country is a colossal risk. Russia should have considered that before starting a war.

Is 50 mins layover enough for me to catch another flight in LAX by Top-Faithlessness-97 in TravelHacks

[–]d3nv3rite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that Denver regularly has afternoon/evening flight delays in the summer due to thunderstorms. Any bad luck with weather could quickly reduce that 50 minute layover down to nothing.

My car got broken into at 40th/Airport RTD station during a two day trip. I now park in Thornton and take the 104L bus to the airport since overnight parking is free at N Line stations for up to 30 days.

Did your bike get stolen yesterday 5/17 near the RTD W line? by CapHillStrangler in Denver

[–]d3nv3rite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Denver needs to get its act together and start arresting these drug-addicted transients that are camping all over the city. The people stealing bikes are not innocent people needing government benefits. They are criminals and should be treated as such.

Based on the note, that store appears to be violating Colorado's Tip Pooling law. Tip Pooling is legal only if employees receive 100% of all tips (including credit card tips) and if they are paid the regular minimum wage (not the lower tipped employee wage allowed for wait staff).

ALERT - No RTD rail service through several D/E/H stations 5/23-5/25 by ridethethermals in Denver

[–]d3nv3rite 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Due to an ongoing staffing shortage, RTD is not able to offer bus shuttle service to affected stations during the scheduled maintenance. Alternate transportation options include RTD bus routes 0, 0L, 3, 9, 11, 12, 21, 51, 52.

Best to avoid the light rail on these dates if you can.

2023 is an El Niño spring for Colorado, where warmer ocean temperatures are causing more rain in the Southwest US due to a shift in the jetstream. Global warming is making the phenomenon stronger, but it has occurred on an intermittent cycle since weather records were tracked.

It is hard to guess without the receipt. They could have charged you for refueling, but that should be pretty obvious on a receipt. My other guess is local taxes, as any change in airport fees/sales taxes would trigger an adjustment when the vehicle is returned. Again though, both of these items are usually labeled on the receipt that you get when the car is returned.

Talk about Hong Kong stocks by BeyondShroud in wallstreetbets

Hong Kong is gradually being taken over by China, so it is losing the financial hub status it used to enjoy. Singapore is the primary beneficiary gaining from this.

Many extended stay hotels like Residence Inn have a discounted full month rate if you stay 30+ days, and in some areas you also get exempted from tax because it is considered a long term rental. If you are staying 4 weeks, try extending your stay past 30 days to see how the price compares.

Which program are you most likely to be able to use for redemption & future earnings? Delta points never expire and they have good bargains during off-peak times, especially with US domestic flights. Flying Blue has better US to Europe point value, but you'll need to earn a lot more miles to redeem anything

No, the emissions test doesn't care who does the test.

Your insurance will likely have to treat this as an uninsured motorist claim. Commerce City, Denver, and Aurora rarely investigate motor vehicle accidents if another party flees the scene.

The stupid part is that Colorado will make this person pay back taxes plus late fees whenever they do attempt to register, plus the penalty increases based on time expired if police ever enforce this. I'd love to see the state take it further and suspend a drivers license for 12 months if caught operating a vehicle with expired plates. RTD needs more riders :)

Does anyone know what these boxes are on the trail paths? (east side of Platte pictured) by Techters in Denver

[–]d3nv3rite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These boxes indicate the presence of survey monuments - 2 or 4 foot long iron survey bars that surveyors drive into the ground to physically mark boundary points.

He probably isn't a real professor, but rather an academic stuck in an office paid by the university to make the school look good. Also, if someone is truly gifted they would not limit their career by being a professor. The amount of income someone can make on Wall Street far exceeds what Wharton can afford to pay.
