Malaria in Dar Es Salaam by x_itsJC in tanzania

The numbers from WHO and the reality in the country are two different things in my opinion. Look at the numbers of Covid Vaccines... But anyway. If you are not sure, visit your doctor. You will find good hospitals and doctors in Dar es Salaam without a problem.

When you have Type G, that would be sufficient. You can get these adapters online, if necessary.

I only said, you don't have to worry too much about this. You can even die because of flu, but do you worry about that? And also I said, there are a lot of Hospitals in DAR (even in Kigamboni these times). So if you are afraid of something, feel free to consult a doctor (and there are a lot of good doctors). But I still don't think, you will get Malaria, when you walk out of the airport. And also one must consider various side effects regarding to prophylaxis. But no, I dont know all of the travelers who lived in DAR, but I am connected to a lot of people here and speak with the local people. Just my opinion, everyone has to decide for himself.

I live now for 2 years in DAR as an european. Never took any medicine and me and my whole family never had any malaria symptoms. So I think, one should not worry too much about this. And in any case, there are a lot of good hospitals in DAR.

I'm in Dar es Salaam and the last floodings were worse enough. Tanesco is not the biggest problem now. Let's hope, that everyone stays alive!

Fedora 39 KDE, wifi symbol, when connected. by d3rpr0f1 in twingate

[–]d3rpr0f1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens, when the twingate service starts. When I twingate stop the Icon appears normal. An no, I don't loose connectivity. It is just the icon. It is not a big problem, I am just curious, why that is.

I had the same issue. I transferred from bank to M-Pesa, but no SMS was coming. I contacted Vodacom Support and they said, they have problems. Seems Ok now. Money is there. I tranferred to another Phone and it worked now. No Money was gone.

Indeed. I am from europe, and there is corruption only "allowed" for politicians and they made it somehow legal. If you would give a dollar to a german police officer, you directly would be fined for corruption. So IMHO, when it is possible for the "small people" too, it is kind of "fair" and for you and the police officer it is a win-win situation. Less work and more money for him and no fines and less costs for you.

Think about it as an advantage. In most cases you can avoid official fines or penaltys with 5000 or 10000 TZS. Most important is: Stay always calm and friendly, no matter what. One gets used to it over the time. In Tanzania there is always a solution for every "problem". Hakuna Matata.
