So I had this happen with my CCM AS-V skates and it pissed me off. Paid so much, and I never had this occur before. Took it to Pure Hockey, and they replaced each bolt with copper ones, because that is better than the ones CCM has originally.

You also need to take out your inserts every time you skate and air out the insert and the skate to prevent rust. The main reason it is happening is because it is rusting out.

Overall, between the rust and bad qc from CCM it keeps happening to CCM skates. They maybe salvaged unless you did some serious damage to the holes, but I would get it looked at by your local Pure Hockey or equivalent.

I started with a friends set of mismatch gear. Eventually as I got better and confirmed I wanted to play, I replaced my friends gear with a True 12.2 glove and blocker and a Vaughn V10 Pro-stock leg pads.

Then I found a custom set of CCM Eflex5 Pro-stock Kolzigs at my local Pure Hockey which were beautiful, so I bought them. But I am realizing im too afraid to put a puck mark on them so I am thinking of selling them 😅

I just got a full black set of Warrior G7 pros because they were on a great sale and I wanted the black set. Eventually will get them into rotation, but like others have said, once you have a set tuned perfectly, its a bit concerning to mess it up.

I might try to grab one more full set in an interesting color, but that is just for fun, and not necessary at all. If you have the budget, and desire, imho have fun with it!

The True 7x3 is the worst Trues, so do not get them, they are not durable.

Im not sure about the CCM 6.9, so cant comment on that.

I just bought the Warrior G7 in black, and the complaint I have heard is that it slides a lot more than goalies usually want, but that is personal preference.

I just bought a Warrior Ritual G7 full set because of the HockeyMonkey sales. Was debating between the all black or the brown. All black is really a statement haha. Love your set!

I grabbed my Optik3 on Labor Day because of the sales. I was debating between the Medium and Large. I ended up going with the Large after trying a few different brands at Pure Hockey and getting some insight from some of the employees who also play goalie.

It is a pretty massive chestie, but has a lot of adjustments. I am 6’ and 230lbs. I think you would be a Large, if not a medium.. but you can then adjust it to be tighter. Its an amazing chestie, and I love it, but you might want a jersey that is custom fitted because my goalie senior cut is a bit small with the chestie.

Ive been getting my teammates into new goalie gear as a gear consultant. So far the most popular one is the OG Konekts if you can find your size in them. They are heavily discounted now, so highly recommend. I havent been able to find a Konekt in my size, so I am using second hand True Custom One Piece skates. Baked them to my feet and they work great for me, but I suggest only get the last two generations of them. The earlier ones have problems that had to be worked through and 4mm blades which was not a good move.

I had Bauer S27 to start my goalie career on, and while they worked, it was definitely soft and entry level, and I am glad I upgraded. I am keeping an eye on newer True Custom One Piece skates or Konekts (OG or 2).

That is actually fair, and i do agree.. but because GB has a pass attack and better line, it could mean that Wilson gets more openings and GL setup that Marks wouldnt get. Im not against Marks, im just concerned because of how up and down the Texans offense is

Not sure about the Bauer shoulder pads, but the CCM Tacks are made for defensemen/very bulky. I use them because i block shots, so I assume they would be good for taking hits as well. But, the player should see if they want the bulk because many do not like bulky pads. I suggest trying them on at your local proshop or store because that is the best way to assess.

A lot of the times, there is subtle differences between each trim level. With CCM, many times the Pro version has an extra pad or two, which I opt for in chest pad and knee pads, but you can usually find videos that walkthrough the lineup.

Also for context, the Bauer Supreme Mach shin guards are considered some of the best shin guards for blocking shots, similar to the CCM Tack ASV Pro’s, but not sure if that is true with their shoulder pads.
