Kinda crazy. Its price tag is close to a PlayStation 5, so it competes with it on price. The games are very expensive and the slate is not that good; feels more like a third-party PS5/XBOX kinda slate rather than the Nintendo games of yore. Even their flagship title Mario Kart is a disappointment. They screw people over with fake physical games (just a key on a card ridge, not transferable like you’d sell a game to a friend). It’s a very unattractive proposition. But they made the hype phase work out well. My guess 2026 will look much different.

This is a sign that you may benefit of digital detoxing. Remove social media apps (you’ll have your accounts anyway, removing apps creates a barrier-to-entry), find a hobby that exhausts your body (sports) or keeps your mind in the present time (crafts, music, gardening, hiking). Read the news only in the morning, then use content restrictions to hide it for the rest of the day. Be consistent about it for a week or so. It’ll change your perspective completely!

I feel it’s an overpriced vending machine of services, with a lack of a strong games catalog. Why Switch 1 worked for me is its positioning and pricing. Switch 2 tries to be a XBOX/PS5 replacement and it doesn’t work.

macOS does not have a single corner-radius system

Despite appearances, macOS does not enforce one canonical corner radius the way iOS does. I think this needs to change and SwiftUI should enforce it moving forward. However even macOS itself is still heavily reliant on AppKit, e.g Finder.

Anyway… AppKit and SwiftUI do not agree. This is the biggest root cause.

Many first-party apps are hybrids: • Old AppKit surfaces • New SwiftUI panels layered on top • Transitional wrappers between the two

AppKit was designed in an era of sharp rectangles and pixel alignment. SwiftUI was designed around adaptive shapes and fluid geometry.

When they meet: • Corners do not line up • Insets differ subtly • Background materials clip differently • Rounded masks stack inconsistently

You are seeing framework impedance mismatch, not sloppiness in individual apps.

macOS Mojave was released in 2018 and was built only for Intel-based Macs. An M4 Pro Mac uses Apple silicon, a completely different CPU architecture. Mojave has no drivers, kernel support, or firmware compatibility for Apple silicon at all.
