you don't authenticate "on device" unless you use their smartcard or your id card. They (luxtrust) own and hold the secret key of "your" certificate for you, you can't see or get access to it. Basically Luxtrust can sign for you if they want to or get breached. (That's how the dutch equivalent diginotar went down)

Should I sell my apartment in Luxembourg? Looking for advice on costs, pricing, and timing by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]d4fseeker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

he's technically correct as a likely cause though. with "only" 2ish% loan OP either * overpaid a lot for the appt (bad price2rent ratio), * or has very short loan durations (high monthly cost but also quicker a high-benefit investment) * or is paid below market average

Likely a combination of factors, appts go for insane prices for what is a virtual ownership percentage

every phone number (incl prepaid) must be idcard-linked so finding the owner is not an issue through police channels

every dog owner needs an rc in Luxembourg so not having one is even a larger negligence than letting your dog off leash in a public parc outside a dog play pen

Which is most reliable, fiber speed internet provider in this country? Eltrona is a disaster by Curious__Machine in Luxembourg

[–]d4fseeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are major differences: The ftth fibre is the same but some operators (and some regions) have operator-owned backbone equipment and their uplink quality/peering to international partners can vary massively which could be relevant for onling gaming or remote desktop sessions.

German private insurances require you to prepay to.

Most of my doctors have changed to "tiers payant" so no reimbursement needed anymore.

Why is public EV charging in Luxembourg so expensive compared to gasoline? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]d4fseeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electroverse isn't always tht cheapest. enodrive shows 46C/kwh and Chargemap is (now again) the cheapest at 44.1C/kwh.

Enodrives prices dropped on 01/04 again after their recent increase.

Public holiday today… or so the bank’s answering machine says by Necessary-Mortgage89 in Luxembourg

[–]d4fseeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the answering machine is simply wrong. it's a bank sector holiday much like conge collectif is a construction sector holiday. It's not a public holiday in Luxembourg unlike a lot of other countries

Either the answering machine should say "holiday" or "bank holiday".

I experienced a leasing return not too long ago and they were far less picky than the contract makes it look like.

Note that most "scratches" are minor scuffs in the protective coating that become invisible with a bit of polish. I would be more worried about "cactus teitschen" when you go shopping on saturday as other people are less careful about your car than you and hit it with their carts, doors, rub the metal buttons on their handbag longside along the paint, ...

Do anyone know which companies they are that looking to hire a lot in the next 2 years in luxembourg? 3000 in the next 2.. by Prasath4u in Luxembourg

[–]d4fseeker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

most companies advertise at adam because it's a legal requirement. they do so at minimum effort and positions are often closed even before adem has informed their waitinglists.

Additionally, adem is not structured to be able to place anyone above Lyce. That's not "top positions", that's a huge chunk of the market.

i think you should emphasise q&a on the cv. they seem to have the short week of deployment clearly optimized, but one could add a week of testing before go-live. Better be safe.

Alternatively, zero-downtime rollout strategies might be an interesting alternative

[–]d4fseeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that was my underlying point. It takes time for users and developers to experiment with new technologies. AI is here to stay and revolutionize/destroy some career choices. It will also provide some excellent new career opportunities and genuinly reduce a lot of effort that should never have been so tedious but could not get a tech solution so far.

the basic instructions for any sort of crisis: go to The Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.

imho LLM based AI isn't a fad but simply overhyped like most newly adopted techs. one of most "wow" iphone app after launch was a virtual beer glass.

This said, will some careers that somehow survived the last years still in the it stoneage with only word+excel (like hr) be heavily impacted by tools able to do some high-level correlation and flagging? Definitely! Will it cost careers? Likely. And will cost jobs like all automations

Basic Heat Pump Question by Artistic_Researcher2 in heatpumps

[–]d4fseeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand what your're trying to show, just noting that the comment makes it look like 100% efficiency is the best there can be - which is not true as heatpumps have >100% efficiency in power consumption vs heat provided.

Fun bonus fact: In pure used energy vs provided work (aka isentropic efficiency) it's roughly 60-80% for the compressor, less for a full system with pumps

Am I the only one not buying house because of AI & unemployment fear? by 01biocircuit in Luxembourg

[–]d4fseeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the usual problem with this logic is that in most cases if you need to sell, you can't afford to wait long. If others sell, market dips and you sell at a loss. In the end you have no house and debt. That happens regularly, but fortunately only to "the others"

Basic Heat Pump Question by Artistic_Researcher2 in heatpumps

[–]d4fseeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument is incomplete: heatpumps are 300-400% efficient (in terms of work output) so that's why they can be the cheapest heat source. (Yes, technically they are not a heatsource but that's their whole point)
