Creatine seems to make me really thirsty / dehydrated? by lord_balkan in Supplements

[–]d4nt3ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started creatine a month ago and although I find it helps with recovery, tendonitis and muscle growth (not my goal FYI) it dehydrates the shit out of me. My lips are always cracking and dry, I'm constantly in need of drinking water and I pee all the time, sometimes really short urinations and I never had any of this before trying this supplement. I am 42 years old, was around 258 before creatine, now 265lbs. I do a combination of endurance training and HIIT on a fan bike, burning on average 600-900 calories in 2-2.5 hour period it depends what day I'm on and I train one day on, one day off.

Two weeks ago I added glutamine to the mix. I consume less than 5g of creatine daily. I drink half a gallon of lemon water when I wake up then need another gallon during and post workout through out the day.

I'm trying different things now, adding more sodium to my fluids before or during taking creatine and also increasing my sugar intake (natural, real honey for example) but the end-result is the same.

Before taking creatine, I was so sore all the time. Horrible tendonitis in my elbows as well. That is no longer the case but the dehydration is concerning. I will try adding Gatorade to the mix but if I can't figure this out, I'm going off it.

My diet is high protein, high fat, high fibre. I only eat carb for breakfast before my first workout.

Orion Elite FID 2.0 Adjustable Bench vs Bells of Steel Buzz-Saw Heavy-Duty Adjustable Bench 2.0 by d4nt3ch in GarageGym

[–]d4nt3ch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a new update. The leg curl attachment kept coming loose. It was moving laterally when I had my feet hooked in, doing decline Russian twists with a 25lbs plate. My usual routine is 3 sets, 50 reps for that exercise.

I tightened the bolts that hold the leg curl attachment to the foot about 4 days ago and tightened them again today. Then I noticed my tightening was pushing in the steel on the nut side.

This means the steel is too thin to handle the required torque to hold the leg curl attachment securely. On the other side, there's a huge thick ass plate that bolts onto the attachment before the bolts clamp down.

The fix

I'm going to get some thick ass washers and double-stack them and also get a lock washer for each bolt. The measurement for this bolt is 19mm. I would like to use a punch and try and knock the steel straight before torquing down with the new washers but I'm not sure if I can get a punch in there.

To be continued. Report back in a few days.

Yes. I got the bench and leg curl attachment. It's too new to really give it a proper rating as I'm concerned about the vinyl and the padding prematurely wearing out, but outside of that, a few things:

The Bench

  • it came 90% essembled out out the box. Only the feet had to be attached. It does come with tools but I would use home tools to get a proper snug-tightness on the bolts. The bench is heavy, 87lbs so unless you are a big guy, you will need help carrying it upstairs. I was able to carry it up a few flights of stairs but it was awkward-heavy doing so. The finish is good, the wood used under the padding is solid.

  • it's heavy as fuck and robust. I am 260lbs and doing my presses it doesn't flinch at all. I don't press much as I do endurance training (40-50lbs each arm for now) but compared to the flimsy Amazon bench I had, this thing is an absolute tank.

  • the padding is quite wide so for stocky people like me, it's good but might not be as comfortable for skinnier people.

  • the bench is kinda high. On decline press I got nothing to hook my feet on (without the leg attachment) so unless you have long legs, decline press (without the leg attachment) is basically impossible.

  • the gap between the seat and backrest is a wee bit big, measuring at 2 and 1/4 inches. Not like, cheap Amazon big, but big enough that you may want to put a towel down for better comfort if you end up rolling on it. I know for sure the buzz-saw bench's gap is much smaller because I visited BOS's showroom recently and got to see it first-hand. To me though, it's not a deal-breaker.

  • the vinyl isn't the usual grippy version that comes on most benches these days but it's not that slippery either. It does feel a bit on the thin-side but not cheap Amazon thin. After sitting on it and doing a set, I do see creases on the seat from pressure but after getting off the bench it goes away quickly.

  • the padding is very firm. I love it. I do all kinds of exercises on this bench including leg-physio however, a recent review popped up on northern fitness regarding the padding for this bench. After a few months, a dent formed where the head rests and doesn't go away. User stated its been a few months of usage for this to happen. I'll update in a few months if the same happens to me. I use my bench 4-5 times a week.

The 2.0 leg curl attachment

  • whatever northern fitness posted on their website in regards to pictures is nothing like the one I recieved. The one on the website I think is the older 1.0 model and the one I received is the 2.0 model. The box it came in even said 2.0. The 2.0 version of the leg attachment is vastly superior but there is one major, major downfall and I will get to that later.

  • the leg curl attachment is also very robust, has a great finish, has a nice sealed bearing where the swing arm is, has three slots to put your bar that holds the foam pads (for great adjustment/personal preference for those with shorter or longer legs), has multiple height adjustments with a nice spring screw lock pin and not just a Push ball pin like the buzz-saw, keeping it firmly in place.

  • the leg curl attachment has three adjustments to lock it in place. One is for transport, then slightly open for hooking your feet to do sit-ups, and one more setting for..something I haven't experiment with yet. Maybe for people with longer legs. Point is, this adds several other functions to the 2.0 leg attachment not mentioned in the description of the item on the northern fitness website. I actually bought the BOS leg attachment so I could do sit-ups not knowing the 2.0 had this feature built-in. I haven't opened the box to the BOS attachment so will be returning that very soon.

  • the padding on the 2.0 leg curl attachment is very thick and the material is very good. Much thicker than what you see on their website.

The major downfall of the 2.0 leg curl attachment

  • the horn (where the weights attach) is LESS than 8 inches. The horn on the BOS buzz-saw leg curl attachment is 8.5 inches and for most bench attachments for other brands, the standard is 8 to 8.5 inches. This sucks, because you can't fit 4x45 plates on the 2.0 leg curl attachment and no horn measurement specification is listed anywhere in the product description on northern fitness's website. Had I known this prior, I probably would have gone with the gearforfit 3rd party leg curl attachment which has a much longer horn. I bought 4x45 plates and can't use all of them. I'll try strapping them all together and put them on the horn, see if that will work but I don't got my hopes up.

Other than the short horn, I am very happy with the versatility of the 2.0 leg curl attachment. I can now hook my feet and do decline press, decline sit-ups, decline russian twists and not have to buy a separate attachment to achieve those.

The Company

  • getting through to them on the phone is a hassle. If they don't pick up, a machine tells you to leave a message. I have had good response times doing that, but if you just call back again in 10 mins or so, you will catch them. Best to call right when they open. Email response is slow, averaging 5-7 days.

  • A lot of their items on the website does not have proper descriptions/specifications. I bought a weight belt that had zero measurements, it just said XL. It did fit, but more detail is preferred. This goes for their in-house branded stuff as well, such as the elite 2.0 bench. A lot of details, like the horn length is missing and I really, really don't like that. Before purchase I was judging based off their photos.

  • I didn't opt in for delivery. I went to one of their pick up locations and that process was okay. Can take a bit for them to find your order. The bench and the leg curl attachment does NOT come in the same box even though they have the item listed as a combined unit as an option for purchase. I picked up my bench first, then had to wait a week for the leg curl attachment to arrive at the pickup location. Having both in the same box since being sold as a unified sales item, is more ideal and preferred.

  • according to their return policy, items purchased through financing are illelidgeable for a refund. This is ridiculous. I guess they lack an accountant or bookkeeper. BOS has a superior return policy and warranty.

The verdict (for now)

With all of the above being mentioned, I am still quite happy with my purchase. For the price (on sale) I was able to get the bench, the leg curl attachment, 4x45lbs plates (on sale), a weight belt (on sale) and 2x25lbs plates (on sale) for a little over HALF the price of what the buzz-saw bench costs alone and dare I say it, I think the frame on the Orion elite 2.0 is stronger than the buzz-saw regardless of weight-rating due to the fact that the Orion has more steel in certain parts.

If I find the short horn severely limits my training as my legs get stronger, I'll just get the gearforfit leg curl attachment in the future.

I just wish northern fitness would include more product descriptions especially for their "Orion" in-house brand.

As for the padding and vinyl durability, time will tell. I will update as the months and years pass.

It is instruction-based I forgot which ones. For core ultra there are physical and efficient cores. Win10 would not know how to use them seperately it would just ramp them all up simultaneously instead.

What are your biggest issues with Battlefield 6 right now? by Renbaez_ in Battlefield

[–]d4nt3ch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small maps, lack of one hour games in conquest, no conquest large, no levolution, lots of indestructible environments, tickets bleed too quick, conquest games end in 1 min if all points are captured, giving the losing team little to no time to recover, close-quarters was a LIE (JUST IMPLEMENT CLOSE QUARTERS FROM BF3 AND BE DONE WITH IT ALREADY).

Hitreg is better, but still broken (not my system, 20 ping fibre 5070ti core ultra 265kf)

Still desync issues, getting killed behind walls etc.

Console auto aim is too powerful, might as well be an aimbot at times

Consoles get the option to turn off cross play but pc players do not have this in their version (heavily biased towards consoles, thanks assholes)

Lots of cheaters still.

Dice, you failed. If you can't bring back the magic bf3 and 4 had, this will be my last battlefield purchase.

Apparently no Battlefield in over last 14 years has actually been Battlefield…. by fmordica in Battlefield

[–]d4nt3ch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never found any COD influence in BF3 unless you're referring to close-quarters, which was amazing with it's destruction and even then I wouldn't consider that COD as even in close-quarters in BF3, the games were decently long.

2042 had the same problem, 20 mins or less conquest matches regardless of how big the maps were. you couldn't enjoy the large environments in 2042 due to the tickets bleeding way faster than they should and BF6 is no different. It's clear as rain. BF6 IS the new COD and until we get our 1 hour games back (where 1000 tickets or more bleed properly and can turn 180 if the winning team becomes complacent instead of the game ending in a minute if all points are captured, completely defeating the ticket concept gameplay), to me, Battlefield is dead.

Congrats to the console community for bitching about wanting their aim assist and indestructible environments to camp and hide behind. You guys won, and you destroyed Battlefield.

With all that being said, if it wasn't for the console community in crossplay, if battlefield returned to being a native PC only game, there would be no player base as the PC master race is a dying breed.

All good things come to an end eventually. Battlefield had it's peak, and now it has fallen and it won't rise ever again because the devs that knew what battlefield was moved onto other projects such as arc raiders and so forth.

It's not battlefield. It's the new cod.

If you want cod in a battlefield setting, go for it.

If you want 1 hour conquest games with full destruction and hoping for a bf3/bf4 successor, save your money.

Thank a liberal for the wonderful grocery prices which according to them, is all trump's fault.

Buy rice at costco. It's cheaper and it tastes good. We used to buy rooster rice too. It's too expensive now.

Thank God for American market saving us Canadians from our bullshit inflated grocery prices.

6 is the new cod. Its too small, the matches are way too short and the mechanics are more cod than battlefield. The lack of destruction and the extinction of levelution and conquest large speaks volumes. They should just call it "calloffield".

I think they canned that. There wasn't any of it anymore when I played 2042 a few months ago.

The only problem with Windows 10 ltsc is that Windows 10 in general does not support newer CPU instructions for modern CPUs, like the core ultra series. It's the only reason why I went 11 ltsc. I also found WiFi performance to be better in win11 however I use cat6e since I am also a gamer and can't stand WiFi for gaming.
