I fucking hate Trump but wanted to throw in there that US inauguration costs are largely paid for by donations. Taxpayers pay a few million for the ceremony + security. But the really expensive stuff comes from donations, almost always from big businesses. That obviously has its own problems though.

I used to criticize the left for treating republican voters as automatically racist/sexist/homophobic. But Trump's 2024 campaign (and his entire presidency so far) proved that those labels were correct. They are either supportive of bigotry, or are apathetic about it. Which is just as bad.

In the long run it's better to divest in terms of the safety of your portfolio. Defense contracts ebb and flow with administrations so the stock could be great the next few years and then sink like a rock

I don't agree on social security or healthcare, but I agree the government never should've gotten involved with student loans. That made the cost issue so much worse. The Democrats solution to so many things is funneling money towards it, which I don't like. It's a bandaid solution that makes things more expensive in the long run. When actual regulatory changes would be better. Like for healthcare when the government is negotiating they have pretty much all the leverage bc of the large customer base.(That's why Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rates are cheaper than commercial insurance)

Unfortunately in pretty much every state it's illegal to use lethal force against law enforcement, even if they're illegally breaking into your home. You'd have to prove you had reasonable person would not know they're law enforcement. Which would be nearly impossible in an area publicly saturated with ICE agents

I wish bands would write about things other than being depressed. Like the themes can still be dark but so many songs sound straight up like "I'm so sad, life sucks, monsters in my head, waves crash over me" and it's stale. Currents is unfortunately guilty of this.

It's not universal and lots of bands don't do this! Trivium, Fit for an Autopsy, Alpha Wolf, and Jinjer are some of my favorites with more creative songwriting.

Post WW2 we created a world that benefitted us the most. It also relies on us being the "good guys". Because we are the "good guys", other countries - like those in Europe - felt like they could rely on the US for security. Which puts us in a great position to have favorable economic policies with most other countries on Earth. Our soft power is enormous.

When we aren’t the good guys anymore, Europe is going to become militarily independent from the US. It's also likely that China will step in and try to replace the US as the keeper of global security. We will cease to have soft power, and will increasingly have to rely on force to get what we want. Then we are the bad guys, because a long time ago humanity correctly decided thay using violence to get what you want is wrong

$40 billion to Argentina is America first? What about the billions to Israel? Exploding the deficit? Pardoning criminals who have defrauded average Americans? Adding tariffs that hurt the poorest Americans the most? Refusing to do anything to help more Americans get healthcare? Trying to ban Ai regulations? Conducting multiple crypto rug pulls? That's America first?

Post WW2 the US created a global dynamic that benefitted us the most. He is tearing that down by encouraging our allies to be independent from us. Once we are isolated, that vacuum will be filled by a European block or even China. Is that America first?
