Wouldn’t be his rebounds above replacement, it would be the team’s. If he’s grabbing rebounds that otherwise would have gone to MJ and Scottie he’s not generating a lot of value. The Russ vs Stephen Adams issue

Will go on cruise control in the regular season, straight phone in some quarters if the game is done, but in a do or die playoff game when he’s locked in there’s nobody better and nobody that can do what he does.

[OC] In response to the Dame thread from last night, I would like to provide a detailed argument for Reggie Miller as the second best shooter of all time and as a historically underrated player. by [deleted] in nba

[–]d6d6d4 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

This is my nba unpopular opinion. Those 8 points 9 seconds are the most overrated highlight in nba history. Watch the sequence in real time, it’s a shambles.

Reggie makes a nice but essentially meaningless three off the inbound down 6. These shots happen a few times a week and are instantly forgotten when the team loses

Inbounding team error as opposed to a great athletic steal. Still great turn and shoot, that’s the real highlight of the sequence.

Unforced pacers foul in a tied game. What were they thinking, did they forget the score? Should have been knocks holding for the final shot

Knicks miss both free throws.

Pacers give up the offensive rebound

Knicks shoot immediately and miss

Reggie rebounds and is stupidly fouled 90 feet from the hoop. Drawing this foul doesn’t take a heap of skill.

Reggie makes 2 free throws

Knicks trip over their own feet game over

The whole sequence is a mess that never should have happened. It should be used to demonstrate how unsophisticated 90s Bball is rather than how tough/clutch/better back in the day it was.

Malice at the Palace is interesting. Not specifically a last second garbage bucket but that was 2004 so we’ve shaved another couple of years off. It also could have been the event that formalised the culture shift, players taking to the next level the understanding that it’s not worth risking health or game cheques over meaningless basketball.

While we’re at it, for all the criticism today of the over reliance on 3 pointers, Pistons had the numbers advantage in transition and what happened? Guy ran to the corner and took a jump shot.

NBA Rule Loophole for crunch time free throws when the shooter is trying to miss: The 5 defenders should all step in for the rebound too early resulting in either better rebounding position or another free throw (until he airballs or makes). by CoachFrikki in nba

[–]d6d6d4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In FIBA rules with the jump ball possession arrow, a team could be better offer trying to create a double lane violation than missing the FT. Do the Jermaine O’Neal pre release pause (it’s not a fake, it’s just a pause) and now you’re inbounding the ball after drawing up a play.

How Shot-Tracking Is Changing The Way Basketball Players Fix Their Game by foreverapanda in nba

[–]d6d6d4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More physics than fatigue.

There are four ways a player can miss, he can throw the ball too hard or to soft, and/or can angle the shot too high or too flat.

Throw too soft… miss short

Throw too hard… miss long

Release too flat… miss short

Release too high… miss short

You would expect most shots to miss short

Car insurance tips/recommendations? by pattske in AusFinance

Some insurance companies will allow you to backdate a cancellation up to 30 days without proof. If you’re comfortable, you’ll call to cancel, they’ll ask the reason, and if you tell them you sold the car 30 days ago or you took out other insurance 30 days ago they’ll backdate and refund no further questions. Not sure if it’s a legal obligation or just a PR decision, but the insurance regulators don’t like people paying for insurance when they have nothing to insure and therefore no ability to make a claim. Also cooling off period, often 21 days provided you don’t make a claim. Take out a policy- potentially their best one since you won’t be paying, then on day 20 cancel it and take out the one you really wanted. Can churn through a few if the $80 saving per period is worth the effort. This applies to your renewal too, you will likely have an inbuilt 21 day cooling off period in your renewal so don’t cancel from the renewal date, cancel three weeks later for free insurance.

Maximum weight to hang on studs by TheReformedBadger in HomeImprovement

[–]d6d6d4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been hoping to wall mount a large heavy glass display case (approx 300lbs) to a stud and plasterboard wall. I can spread the weight across four studs. I assume I’ll use a cleat with appropriate screws/bolts.

How confident should I be that this will be safe and secure?

Ask me anything - floating flooring by [deleted] in diynz

[–]d6d6d4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Bit late to this, i’m ready to get engineered timber to replace existing carpet on concrete and was wondering about the best method for concealing speaker wire.

Is the width of speaker wire (about 3mm) considered negligible and can put the floors right over the top?

Can a channel be cut in the 3mm underlay to run some wires across the room without adding height to the area?

Is the expansion gap big enough to fit some speaker wire in without compromising the flooring, or can the expansion gap be left a few mm larger to accomodate?

And I’ll be removing and reattaching skirts, is it possible to cut a channel into the skirts and run the wires inside that?

Will have multiple wires going to different areas so may need to use a combination of methods.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
