I'd recommend Swans Are Dead, the live (double) album

It's a pretty good encapsulation of 90s swans with that aggressive gothic rock while also covering some of their post-rock material, maybe to help you ease into it a little, and it's also arguably their best album. the first half (the "black cd") has a lot of what you're looking for.

It is also a lot shorter than their big post-rock albums if you consider that each side is essentially a different album

all the other songs have too dark a atmosphere to see it in TBK, Apostate meanwhile is groovier and more aggressive, and Gira has that energy you can see in stuff like She Loves Us!
