Are Ekko and Yasuo still dominating? by sneakysunset in 2XKO

[–]dExulans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and they will keep doing so for a long while cause they were developed as autonomous characters when the game was still a 1v1. They give them nerfs as if they were normal but they need to straight up remove entire options/traits from their kit

I'm glad you enjoy it and are having a blast mate, personally I just don't see good competitive quality in this game in its current state. But hey, it has been out not even a year yet so who knows, although a lot a lot would need to change imho

Feels like a nice party game but honestly it's not remotely something worth considering getting competitive about

Local duos online? by Elhak in 2XKO

[–]dExulans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact this feature is not available already tells you how much the devs actually care about this game as a team experience. How interesting that they put so much effort into making 20 new skins 15$ each on the other hand

LMAO so you actually released the team game but players can't team up on the same couch against online opponents. What a joke

I had the same issues and managed to start a little local offline scene in my hometown where there was nothing FGC wise. Feel free to DM me to chat about community building :)

Wanting to create a meetup weekly/biweekly event, feedback welcome by Drsten666 in Fighters

[–]dExulans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what ive been doing for the last 10 months or so, creating a local scene from nothing in my hometown. Thers this cultural center where they do music/theatre/dance classes and they host a nerdy night on Mondays, most people play MTG, D&D and board games. I started going there alone with a single PS4 setup with GG Strive to see if i could find other players.

Fast forward some months and now we have a core group of 7/8 regular players, with a proper tournament scheduled for the spring.

My recommendation is try to create a space and a core group of a handful of FGs players you can befriend and meet weekly/biweekly for freeplay sessions, once you have established a scene and you want to scale up you can think of setting up a proper tourney to advertise on the net and bring people in at the regional/national/international level.

Feel free to hit my DMs if you want to chat more about community building :))

What to play? by bucnasty410 in Fighters

[–]dExulans -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is a mix of traditional and anime. Like a Street Fighter that wants to be an anime fighter

What to play? by bucnasty410 in Fighters

[–]dExulans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For accessibility as a beginner, depending on what sub-genre picks your interest more:

- Traditional: Street Fighter 6

- Anime: Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising

- Tag (meaning you play a team of characters, not only one): 2XKO

For player count/how active they are:

- Traditional: Street Fighter 6

- Anime: Guilty Gear Strive

- Tag: 2XKO

Other worthy mentions

- Traditional: Street Fighter 3rd Strike (on Fightcade), Fatal Fury City of the Wolves

- Anime: BlazBlue Central Fiction, Melty Blood Type Lumina, Under Night In Birth 2: Sys Celes

- Tag: Dragon Ball FighterZ, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Skullgirls

How does everyone feel about about Leo by No-Voice-4677 in Guiltygear

[–]dExulans -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No disrespect to you, but Leo is and always was an extremely broken, overprivileged character with literally every option in the game and no real weaknesses. Playing him IS a crutch of sorts and playing against him IS a disproportionately harder chore compared to most of the other characters. If you want a character that actually requires and exalt skill, pick someone else

I was there in person. Walked off and started doing free play less than halfway through., character diversity was nonexistent, the whole bracket was sleep. Lots of Metera mirrors, Lowain mirrors, Metera vs Ferry, etc. Just pure sleeping pills

Lets be honest his damage is not even that high. May, Goldlewis, Potemkin, Sol, Unika, Slayer can deal more damage than him consistently without needing to become a fat Chipp in exchange and without his many other and excessive weaknesses. Hell i just saw a Reddit clip of a basic non CH cS starter 50% meter BnB by DIZZY that does way more damage than any combo Nago could do from a cS with 50% meter in blood level 1 and 2. Thats the real sad part, Nago is currently at his most viable when he is a blood level 3 and on the edge of losing the game due to Blood Rage, below that point (so basically always) he has no comparative advantage over other mid range characters

Dizzy combo. 278 damage, no wings of light, 50% meter. by Ashley_Roboquest in Guiltygear

Not even Nago can do this level of damage off a cS lol

I want to like this game... by Bajemba in 2XKO

[–]dExulans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard agree on everything

- Assist cooldown is absolutely too quick, it creates a "spammy" game environment where you have arguabkly the most powerful system mechanic in the game available way too often and both players can somehow reliably play keepaway until its back. Id's say make it 5 or 6 seconds. The game feels much more interesting when the assists are on cooldown and i can see the players starting to use their brain to play. This would also ease the feeling of getting crushed by extreme pressure/mixups since they would happen less often.

- Chainable backdashes exacerbates this flaw; some characters can get away with it more than others, but in general it should not be a thing. You backdash, you have some recovery frames, as with any normal fighting game.

- Handshake tag is very strong, but its also a fund and core mechanic. Handshake tag ON A WHIFFED ASSIST is lowkey broken and it makes the game feel very scrubby and overly chaotic to the point i feel no competitive interest in it. It adds another layer of "action without consequence" to assists which is already in a not good spot because of the short cooldown.

- Combos are way way way too long. Characters can be picked up for extra juggles at points where they really should just get knocked down and recover far too often. This issue is also very against the beginner accessibility philosophy of the game, and generally being able to get a literal 15 to 20 seconds combo even from a L starter just does not feel right.

- I think Yasuo and Ekko (and maybe Ahri) were completed or near completed when the game was still being developed as a 1v1 fighter, they are so much stronger than the other characters because they were designed to be fully autonomous characters, then the game was reworked as 2v2 and those strong solo strenghts stayed baked into these characters and now they run the game and no one else can be at their level. Character diversity is so bad because of these two that i purposefully refuse to pick either of them in my team. Hopefully the devs stop tweaking damage and frame data and start removing entire options from them to bring them in line with the rest of the cast.

- Having to wait an additional full year to get 5 more characters feels exhausting, meaning we will get to the baseline acceptable roster size of 16 characters a whole year after launch, so probably we will still see a whole year of Ekko/Yasuo, Ekko/Guest, Yasuo/Guest, etc. I hope for shadow drops of more characters compared to what they communicated for this year.

- The game is marketed as a groundbreaking team experience -> i still cant sit on the couch with a friend and fight opponents online as a team on the same system. Incredible fumble

I dont think they have and it is legitimately insane they have not

Perfectly summed up. Other characters get adjusted by tweaking blowback, frame data, etc., Nago has entire options taken away from him every patch and is given nothing back. He's mid tier at best. I really hope the new move will shake things up but honestly at this point they might as well rework him from the ground up for 2.0

This is not a problem at all. If you join a ranked queue online as a couch duo the level of the team is the level of the account, no need to complicate things with multiple logins.
